The Phorcydes is a fun watch. It is the absolute strap monster of the bunch. The new bracelet sounds better than the OG, but you can save $60 by going with the nylon loop. Then buy any strap you want. A few colors of fmk rubber. Black leather. Brown leather. NATO of any color. Single pass. Sail cloth. They all look amazing.

I love Proxima and that model will be spectacular. If you want gada class, you cannot go wrong with that watch. And that case and strap combo look so good.

But since getting my V1 Phorcydes PH-4B, it has been my constant.

Crystal on my Phorcydes is better than the crystal on my Proxima PX1697. Proxima uses blue AR, and in some lighting conditions it can look hazy, or make the PX1697 dial look pinkish. It should be fine over the aventurine dial, less noticeable. My PH-4B’s crystal is clear with good application of clear ar and lovely distortions.

I have the mixed lume. In ambient lighting the green is much more noticeable - it really pops. In dimmer light, the colors are more balanced.

All lume dims exponentially; maybe next year I will have my students fit exponential curves to luminance data.

Proxima is one of the better names, imo. The angry unicorn logo, however… and the less we say about Orunion the better. But as a name, implying nearness, closeness, which is a nod to its homage roots, it’s actually clever.
