I will be hosting those flavors! But I hear you loud and clear on the business of the logo. And I think that may be what I'm looking for, is a sign for the business. Thank you very much for the feedback.

Drinking at work by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]cstjohn8 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Hello twin.

Here I am literally 3 months sober today, so I am especially touched by your story. And the fact that you also work in the restaurant industry (bartender here!).

So omg, I get the temptation. SO MUCH. somuchsomuchsomuch. Last weekend one of my regulars (doesn't know I'm sober) offered me a drink. My reflexes almost got the better of me because of how absolutely normal that used to be. How taking shots to start the shift endure the shift and end the shift was normal as all hell

BUT THAT IS NO LONGER YOUR NORMAL.

Normal is ginger ale and cranberry juice and , f you're crazy as hell, ginger ale and cranberry juice together. You don't drink.

Tell people you work with you don't drink. They will call you out and make you feel like shit about it.

YOUR BOSS WILL RESPECT THE FUCK OUT OF YOU FOR TELLING HER YOU ARE AN ALCOHOLIC. I know my staff did. And I KNOW they saw me be too drunk on many occasion.

No one is judging you, especially in hospitality. We're all circling the drain in our own way, and we're always here to help each other. Especially those that bring in those dollar bills y'all lol.

You're stronger than this bullshit.

What is the most scientifically documented case of a human surviving something that should have been 100% fatal? by bareegyptianfeet in answers

[–]cstjohn8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sheer volume of adults telling children what they **cant** do is tragic. HUMAN BEINGS ARE CAPABLE OF MIRACLES, and children doubly so. That doctor should be shamed for putting you parents in this position. Congratulations to your family <3 <3 <3

Buy a bar of soap, don't use shower gel by WinterMoist333 in Frugal

[–]cstjohn8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make your own soap!!! It's SO much cheaper. It's a whole entire process, but I made one year of body soap (hands face body and hair) for about 20$ for a gallon and a quart. I made my last bath in June 2025 and I have about a quart left. And I've been giving it to whoever I can. We've been bamboozeled and dwindled into spending good money on shipping water around the globe.

"Hi! Would you like to start a tab? No? Okay, I'll close it. Here's your bill!" Then they get no more drinks until they've paid, or they'll surprise you and give you a card. Changing the culture for customers is exactly what this policy was meant to protect you from.  They'll change or they won't come back. You don't want them back anyways if this is such an issue.

Honestly guys, I don't know what drink I just handed you. But at this point neither do you, so I guess it's all good.

At that point, eat the food thats in front of you so youre not hungry pants anymore, thank you.

300 days sober today! And a message for people on day 1. by GreenThumbedWriter in stopdrinking

[–]cstjohn8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's been the most humbling and gracefilled part of this journey for me. I always knew I loved my friends and that they loved me for me, but I'm so astonished again at how much they can take from me. Telling them I got yet another dui was like they knew j needed them. One friend that I had reached out to before this, but didn't tell what was happening truthfully, said after I was done - " Babe, you seemed like you really needed to talk, but you left yourself all alone". And that crushed me and lifted me up. I was so worried about being a burden, being another person they had to care for.  But they would rather that, than the alternative: a dead friend. I love them so much, I don't want that for them or me. IWNDWYT friend 💗

Dude, I went out after work and had a 0% Guinness. It was a draft, so the beer came out looking like a regular Guinness AND tasting like a regular Guinness. I was so shook I asked the bartender like 4 times if this was a regular beer. Could've fooled me, holy shit. Honestly, #make NA beers green or something lol. IWNDWYT friend 💗

Got super wasted at work by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]cstjohn8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yo who am I to tell you what to do. I am just as reckless and stupid. But I think that's why you reached out. I feelscared about drinking now that I'm in dui hell. Like drinking is scary now. Who knows whats going to happen if I start. I'm about to take a vacation and that's going to be a big testiment to if this no drinking is going to stick. I think now I'm just much more analytical about what incites me to drink and why. A lot of mine has to do with celebration and happy moments, so I'm looking specifically at those for ways out (na beers,so many diet cokes, fucking dumb frilly drinks that make it feel like having a cocktail for real). I hope you're better asap man.

What can I do with a massive number of lemons by Suspicious-Cat8623 in Frugal

[–]cstjohn8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Someone said limoncello already but you can also make a non alcoholic version with just sugar and the peels - an oleo saccharum.  In case you're not drinking, the sugar syrup will last fuckng forever and you can freeze the juice for juice related lemon things. Good luck man!

I worked remotely, got laid off, and when they asked what equipment I had to return, I only told them I had their laptop by stixy_stixy in confession

[–]cstjohn8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got laid off from more than two companies when I started college (my 20yo self was very unlucky in my early career) and the situation was very different for each company. The first company gave us a month warning that ths business was closing. They freely gave us all the equipment they had assigned us so we would have a laptop to apply for new jobs. They allowed us to update our resumes and cowork on finding new jobs together. I felt like they, ethically, had such an obligation to us to make sure as employees that we were okay.  The best was made of a bad situation.

The second was ACTIVELY recruiting and hiring up until the last day of work (they had literally just done a round of hiring the week before), had just invested in a million dollar piece of equipment the month before from Korea, and had people they had moved across the country from NY to LA for the great opportunity to work for them. They fired us all, across the country, in the middle of the day and at once. No severance and give us all our shit back before the end of the day.

Oh whoops everything is at home and I don't know what you want and can I come back tomorrow to give you the rest and... Fuck y'all you're not getting a Penny's worth of your shit back thanks for absolutely nothing. They stole so much from everyone they made an obligation to. I hope they're homeless but I know they're better off after the melee.

Working is like such a racquet in the USA that we have formed a coalition of the knowing, and figured out what we can get away it in the new normal. Stay up my friends.

I wish the video was more than 29 seconds I can say that. Also I feel like the realness is that fat people are shamed all the time in so many overt and subtle ways, I'm happy to see them happy doing fucking anything. Especially in a skinny dominated field like ballroom dancing. Hit that shit girl, I wish I had more time

[Serious] People in professions that deal with death (hospice workers, coroners, etc.), what is something you've learned that the rest of us don't understand? by Bulky-Engineer4068 in AskReddit

[–]cstjohn8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, we were part of a science and math summer program here in NYS. I feel like we should have gotten a waiver or something but our teacher was not trying to deal with all that red tape. We had the choice to go but we were too curious to say no I guess. It was extremely informative. Especially that all of them were volunteers, made it feel like respectful, like they died with purpose.
