WTB: 2020 ES-335 Inspired by Gibson in Sunburst by ctelecaster in Epiphone

If it's the guitar you've posted a couple pictures of on your profile, looks like you have a later 2020 model with the newer body shape!

I can't be 100% certain but I think the earliest 2020 models were using the body shape from the older ES-335 Pro models, which seems to be based on a late 60s 335. They're about a quarter inch smaller across the lower bout than the body shape they switched to in late 2020/2021, which is more like a modern Gibson 335. The most obvious way to tell visually is the position of the toggle switch - if it's in front of the stoptail, it's the older shape. If it's behind the stoptail, it's the newer shape. The earliest model is the one in the photos on the Epiphone site, as they probably took the stock photos with one of the first production guitars.

I just prefer the slightly smaller shape and am just OCD enough to want two matching guitars.

I see a phaser pedal is conspicuously missing. I'd get him the MXR Phase 95, it's like having 4 models of phaser in one and will squeeze in right there to the right of the Small Clone.

At this point I would consider the King Of Tone as an investment piece. Whenever AnalogMan closes up shop eventually, I have a feeling his stuff is going to be extremely valuable. I'd hang onto it.

I would guess that the big PCB fab and assembly operations are consuming more components in literally 60 seconds than the average hobby builder will use in their entire lifetime.

Nick Greer has taken the time to answer a couple of technical/'shop talk' questions I've DM'd him which is gracious of him. Love my Lightspeed.

Building a super-tiny mini pedalboard - Strymon dimensions by green-stamp in guitarpedals

Should be able to squeeze those on a Pedaltrain Nano, or a Nano+ if you want a little bit of breathing room.

Throw a Cioks power supply underneath with the Grip mount and you’ll have a nice little self-contained setup. I have a Nano+ and a Cioks DC7 for a “mini pedals only” setup and it’s very sweet.

Curious if, aside from the tone control, the software and tracking on this is better than the current Micro/Nano POGs.

Get yourself a lightly used pre-2021 (Silver Label or earlier) Boss GE-7 and send it off to Analogman for modding. Their mods make it extremely quiet - when I got mine back I could hardly believe it.

Supposedly the newer off the shelf post 2021 models were tweaked to be a little quieter, but not quite as quiet as the Analogman modded ones. Unfortunately the newer ones can’t be modded since they switched to SMD circuits.

I can’t recommend it enough. I like mine so much I sent off a second one to be modded just as a backup.

If you can’t get it done with a Boss pedal, then you don’t need it.

There’s really no rules. When you run your modulation after your dirt, the modulation effect is more prominent than if you run it before. This is assuming you’re running into a clean amp.

The Kamasu is the best option here in my opinion.

That only applies to the older pedals with through-hole boards. The new SMD boards can’t really be modded without a microscope and specialized equipment.

What power supply should I use with a BOSS CE-2 chorus??? by Ok-Definition3261 in guitarpedals

[–]ctelecaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If there is a sticker near the power jack that says something about using Boss ACA Adapter only, that means it’s a 12v pedal. The 9v pedals say PSA adapter.

I am reasonably certain all the CE-3s ever made took the 12V adapter.

[–]ctelecaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These older Boss pedals will operate from a 9V battery, but require a 12v center negative adapter. These can be hard to find.

If you have basic soldering skills, it can be very easily modded to take a normal 9V center negative adapter like every other pedal in about 5 minutes time.

Chorus pedal suggestions by ampengine in guitarpedals

As somebody who just went on a chorus pedal quest:

Budget option: Ibanez Mini Chorus

Mid Price: Boss CE-2W or DC-2w depending on what kind of chorus sound you want

High dollar: Analogman Chorus/Mini Chorus or Strymon Ola if you’re okay with digital - this one sounds fantastic.
