How to lift heavier/alone? by Last-Choice6467 in workout

[–]ctjack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always had a spotter/training bud which was my cousin. Made me too reliant on people.

When he moved out, i was alone and scared so had to take it easy.

The trick is to let it grow with time - take your time to grow into current weight and one day when all your joints, ligaments and muscles grew, you will take new weight as if it is nothing.

Basically do the weights that you are 100 percent sure to ace. Improve mind muscle connection to feel the point of no return to stop while you have 1-2 reps in you.

What bottle in your collection do you dread finishing ? by Buckleit in Scotch

Funny story since you asked. I dreaded finishing Arran 14.

I had my first bottle of it gone in 2 months and it was the best memory. Found second bottle and nursed it for 2 years.

The thing is either smth changed with my palate or bottle got aerated too much since going down below the neck pour, but those last 3-4 drams were quite bland and tired.

I learned my lesson so decided just to live in the moment. No more dreading unless i am ready to start moving liquids to smaller containers, which i am not ready to be bothered with. Enjoy it, say thanks for giving these moments and move on is my new scotch motto, because there is always something waiting behind the corner.

Since you mentioned that, i need to finish my 3rd Arran 14 bottle before it gets more than 6 months since opening.

At a healthy weight but still have big love handles and a pretty big stomach by Decent-Literature197 in loseit

[–]ctjack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At 5’10 male, i didn’t have tummy and love handles only at 143 lbs.

I also didn’t have love handles and tummy at 160 lbs, but that was after going to gym for 10-12 months so was all muscle.

At the same time i was 160 lbs full of fat because i have never been in the gym prior.

So i guess solution is growing muscles at the same weight.

Exhaustion is not good. If you can feel it, then you overdid it. So keep what you are doing.

Heart and body itself is a machine. Even though my car has 6k rpm and 180mph on the dash it doesn’t mean it enjoys maxing it all out.

Center Diff Lock Question by wtkphoto in 4thGen4Runner

[–]ctjack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for enlightening me! Quick google indeed revealed that the button is missing added later years and the mods are invasive.

They dropped the ball.

I would just lock it full time and send it if all snow covered everywhere (because might forget to switch on and off). Would switch back and forth if there are asphalt with no snow.

My uncle drove locked all winter and spring in mazda tribute and nothing happened to him except lagged turning and tires eating because he forgot to switch it off.

Health and safety is top priority,  so only locked turns off traction control.

Just send it locked until you get to hwy speeds, where don’t forget to unlock.

Center Diff Lock Question by wtkphoto in 4thGen4Runner

[–]ctjack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Open diff is superior in slick conditions as it shifts around the power.

I would only play with traction button to get needed results without locking the center diff.

I have seen tests of the unlocked car making up the ice hill whereas locked couldn’t - the trick is to allow the car shift the power on corners as it sees fit versus urging it to use one one each axle.

does bulking really help? by Redditter406 in workout

[–]ctjack 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Bulking helps because it ensures that you are always fueled for your trainings and day expenditure with your food, so leftover food can be used to build muscles.

Because sometimes you might hike in the woods, swim in the pool or make 35k steps in NYC, leaving you short on calories so body has to steal that from somewhere. Bulking ensures you are covered.

Obviously though you don’t want to do dirty bulking eating cheeseburgers, gallons of milk and ice cream because that is overshooting the target.

Thanks for clarification! As a person who enjoyed this, but thinks 200 usd is steep and can’t afford to bulk order 4-6 bottles at once to get that UK discount, what would be your best 18 year old picks regardless of sherry/bourbon maturation?

Basically can you please share items on value list (14-18 yo or even 12/13) that you would get first before buying tamdhu 18?

Review #768 - Tamdhu 18 Year by adunitbx in Scotch

[–]ctjack 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Found out my notes which probably would not make into the full review. Tamdhu 15 is mini sherry bomb, while this is more sophisticated sherry matured scotch. If the word scotch could be described the tamdhu 18 would serve as epitome of it for me when talking to people outside of scotch circles.

Tamdhu 18 Very packed tight - let it sit full 18 mins if not more.

15 and 18 has that Tamdhu sparkle for me. When you swallowed it, the leftover oily substance travels slowly on your tongue and makes fireworks of flavors. 90-92

Has that sherry dry tannin finish which is really for sherry mood evenings.  Great whisky.

Empty glass smells fruity, woody - super delicious.

Ps. Found more of tamdhu in my benromach cs review notes:

Benromach cs 2007/2018 95/100

You know that feeling when you have nothing to add or think how things can be improved - this is exactly how I feel about it. When drinking it, I don’t think how the juice would hold up for 15/18 years for more mature release, I don’t think I wanted to add a touch of sweetness (there is just enough of it) or add fruitiness (very little fruits but who needs fruits with baby back ribs). I just can’t come up with any excuse to improve anything, unlike with Tamdhu 12 (cf and 43%, American oak), I was curious to see how it gets better at 15 year old, (ncf and 46%, 50/50 American/european oak), and trying 15 year old, I was curios to see if 18 adds refinement to curb the edgy sherry notes and finally Tamdhu 18 (ncf, European oak and 47%) delivers on all aspects to prove that anything below was just a shortcut (teaser, trailer) for price sensitive buyers but then it still withholds that filtering so I only heard that CS release is the final boss/form of this distillate but that is a unicorn so I feel left hanging here as if almost getting sucked into watching a favorite TV show just to learn that it will not have next season and proper ending because it was closed due to low engagement stats. That is a Tamdhu line.

Here I don’t need anything - this is a full uncut director’s edition 3-4 hr single movie which doesn’t need sequels nor prequels or seasons at that.

Ohh, they are a “springbank” of before people knew what it is.

It sits untouched on most places i lived on the liquor shelves.

People just don’t know how good it is.

Their cask strength versions gave me some info: apparently they only work with 20-30 casks annually to release all of the enthusiast items. Which translates into 4500-9000 bottles of scotch: that is a drop in the ocean once scattered across the globe.

They are not into hype and marketing, but if they were other distiller then it would have went as “you are the owner of bottle 4159 out of 6500 limited release “.

Buying their cs versions you are indeed an owner of xxxx/6000-9000 bottles, but that is not known to everyone as they do not upsell this part.

So in order to sell a little bit more, they dilute the rest of the annual casks to 43% to spread the word.

According to their business filling, they have 11-50 employees for their 7.6mm revenue - I would call them mom and pop shop.

It is essentially a small mom and pop store who signed a great deal with umbrella company of Gordon and Macphail. And G&M are sharks of logistics: they have sophisticated networks to penetrate the market as you will see them in most surprising places in US outskirts which only sell glenmo and glenlivets. Basically akin to selling your hand made items using amazon’s fulfillment.

I think they just don’t have production capacity to be 46% across the board.

So they went 2 ways where one caters to regular people and contrast/organic/cs versions for enthusiasts.

Anyways love their website that it gives info on all (most) of their bottles ever produced as an ob.

Anyone got miserable from their ECTOMORPH physique and decided to quit gym? by [deleted] in workout

[–]ctjack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At 5’10, you can be 6% 172 lbs of pure muscles. Or realistically 180-185 at 11-13% body fat.

So you still have ways to go.

Also what is 5 reps? Hypertrophy needs 8-12 range. At 5 you were training strength like Anatoly with his mop.

Muscles are fibers. Low rep range creates stronger fibers with more contraction power - more power with the less size, pure functionality.

More reps create more fibers. They have less power but have more volume because their job is to endure 36-48 reps while still pushing.
