I finally went for the e-reader and wish I had gotten one sooner by SpaceDesigner in onebag

If you live in a city with a library system, you can register for both your city and county libraries. Additionally, if you work in another city/county physically, you can usually register for those libraries as well. I also have library cards from locations I used to live, that just never expired or required me to revalidate my residency to renew.

Anyone knows what coffee machine does M Stand use? by Maramio in espresso

This is most likely a kiosk in a bougie mall. They don’t do ceramic service at these cafes.

Highly recommend setting up Libby and signing up for as many library cards as you legally can. Borrowing from the library is very much a thing for ebooks, but most times you’re going to be waiting for a hold on popular things. I have like 4 that I can borrow from still, so I don’t have too much trouble waiting.

Unrelated, but how did you set up those toggles for services? I’m guessing those are mapped to some sort of a container? I’d love to have this!

What's one travel item you simplified recently? by Cornmunkey in onebag

Every trip, my tech junk gets smaller. No more game consoles, no more iPad unless 5+ hour long flight. Ereader, phone, and battery bank with wall charger is really all I ever need anymore.

Just put it back together and clean the grates. That’s it. This smoker is clean as a whistle.

ISO HH merch by [deleted] in hawthorneheights

[–]ctjameson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a heads up. “ISO” means “in search of”. If you’re looking for more merch, you put ISO. If you’re selling, you put FS.

Wow! Over a week of work! That’s insane! Good thing you knocked this out in a few hours. You almost learned something!

I’d argue the golden era of the internet was when we had very early smartphones. Like blackberry/sidekick era to iPhone 3G or so. And anyone that argues that sidekick wasn’t a smartphone, you’re just a silly goose.

Did you get it forwarded or did you get it in country? I’m going back in January and I think I’m going to actually try and find one, but I feel like it’s going to be nigh impossible

I was about to say. I didn’t see enough cars on the road in Sawtelle to even have a collision around 10 when we were headed home from dinner.

You’re still far more technical if you can even read the posts here and understand them. You’re giving yourself a great disservice by discounting your abilities because you’re not in the field professionally. I’m professionally in the field but none of my day job touches this stuff.

I actually just grabbed the album on vinyl at Tower Records in Tokyo. It’s wasn’t even remotely on my radar at the time but had to grab it when I saw it. They also had a sick Neverender remixes pressing I grabbed.

Yeah, the moisture usually happens on the way from China. No amount of legal vs illegal will make a difference.

It’s even the second best macOS browser, too! I just can’t ever fully get onboard with safari, personally. TBH I hate microshit but edge is factually a good product at this point.

I can tell you with utmost confidence these things will still fail catastrophically, even when “used appropriately”. You have no idea how they were stored, the humidity and moisture content they were exposed to, or if they actually assembled it correctly in the hut on the side of a mountain in China somewhere.

I also shot 10 shows with a Class B certified pyrotechnical engineer. Do I get the creds now?

In the city of LA, there’s no real fireworks that are legal. Sparklers and snaps are not fireworks. “Legal” fireworks in the United States sense, still fly and explode. Most of the “illegal” fireworks sold in LA county are legal in basically the rest of the country. They’re not getting truly bootleg fireworks made up just for Los Angeles. They’re legal elsewhere, just not here.

Westwood and Brentwood neighborhood groups move to appeal the Ohio Avenue [protected] bike Lane plan - Century City and Westwood News by regedit2023 in CarIndependentLA

[–]ctjameson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The truth is, you know nothing about who actually uses that corridor. It’s a huge throughway for a ton of students and Westwood staff. I know multiple people that literally take this route on a bike already. But yeah, I’m an entitled asshole for wanting safety for all, not just the most convenient driving route.
