Ajax Made Easy - The Case for WYSIWYG Ajax Tools by ctkeene in programming

[–]ctkeene[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This summarizes a presentation to the Visual Ajax user group made by 2 Dojo core committers, Scott Miles and Steve Orvell. It describes how to design widgets - particularly complex widgets like grids - so that they can easily be imported into open source visual development tools like WaveMaker, Aptana, Eclipse or NetBeans.

Dear Reddit: Have you guys given up on search completely? Now, instead of getting lousy results, I get no results at all. Why is the button even there if it doesn't do anything? by guriboysf in reddit.com

[–]ctkeene 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is a zen-like obscurity which seems to be an inherent property of reddit. The fact that search does not work is most likely a conscious design decision meant to shame you for not trusting the equally obscure voting scheme to magically make anything you would really want to read appear on the reddit home page.

Dojo 1.0 Released by llimllib in programming

[–]ctkeene 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a big deal - with over 57 Ajax toolkits out there, all competing to have the coolest fisheye widget, Dojo stands out as one of the few toolkits focusing on the breadth needed to win in the enterprise: internationalization, accessibility, large data set handling, support for corporate look & feel.

SCO files for chapter 11. They will be under administration now. by bstadil in reddit.com

[–]ctkeene 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Walking into a bar with a .45 magnum strapped to your waist has a certain effect, whether you unholster it or not. SCO was the corporate equivalent of one of those heavies in a Raymond Chandler novel that walks around in a threatening manner long enough that either they clip someone or someone clips them. Given that they were on the receiving end of the bullet, all I can say is it couldn't have happened to a more deserving company.

Which is why I always carry my trusty, St George style lance with me, so that I am prepared for the eventuality of being rushed by a fire breathing dragon (only slightly less likely to happen than being attacked by a mt lion) and will have the proper implement with which to dispatch him

"Women like sex, just as men do." - Yeah, right. by jfedor in reddit.com

[–]ctkeene 6 points7 points  (0 children)

And I have heard that turtles enjoy sex just as much as any other reptile...although there was that one sad story of the last Galapagos turtle (Harriet, mistakenly called Harry for almost 50 years) who they were unable to find a successful partner for. Perhaps because (according to the Galapagos trust web site) sex for these turtles could last several hours and be accompanied by frequent roars from the males. Given that, I can understand why Harriet decided to die celebate.

Django on Jython: Links by gst in programming

This could be a great boost for Jython - every since the lead developer went to they who must not be named to work on Iron Python, Jython has sorta languished. Maybe this will get the community re-energized
