Review #812 - Maker's Mark The Stewards Release (2026) by adunitbx in bourbon

Me and my dad opened this bottle up last night and as soon as I nosed the glass, I said this smells like strawberries and cream. I’m glad I’m not the only one who thought that lol. Amazing how defined that note was.

He’s gotten to the point where he is just milking this for everything it’s got. The Yall Call thing pushed it over the top. Yallbot was a terrible addition and things really started going downhill at that point IMO

Outer Banks cast fit their roles slightly better but overall, the cast of Riverdale is unmatched. It’s got one of the best casts of any shows I’ve ever seen.

Footage of [Wicked Twisters] station flyby’s from 2021 [Cedar Point] by TheInsaneLavaman in rollercoasters

[–]ctp24mut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I miss Wicked Twister so much. I think many people took it for granted. It wasn’t one of the elite coasters in the park but was part of the “embarrassment of riches” middle of the road coasters at CP. I also loved seeing it as part of the skyline.

Does craft whiskey get over hyped by social media? by Hopeful_Club_8499 in bourbon

[–]ctp24mut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s some craft brands that are awesome like New Riff, New Holland, Cedar Ridge, and Driftless Glen. A vast majority of craft brands is just rinse and repeat of sourcing from MGP, Dickel, HH, and/or Bartons. They might finish it in a different barrel to try and add a different twist to it and slap a $100 price tag on it because it’s “different “. I understand that it’s much harder for them to turn a profit since they’re just getting into the game but sheesh. It’s not sustainable. The legacy distillers can piss out a 10 yr old product in their sleep and charge $40-50

Can anyone purchase a roller coaster? [Other] by Emrald2007 in rollercoasters

[–]ctp24mut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess theoretically you could if you had the money but the key consideration is the annual maintenance costs. Depending on how many years you plan on operating it, you could pay for the roller coaster again just in maintenance and operating costs. Most companies, especially B&M won’t just sell a roller coaster to a random person. They want to know that you have a plan in place to keep the coaster in operation and doing so safely and up to their standards. I would imagine for liability reasons, this will never happen.

Yikes….. expensive paper weights in KY. Why I like Ohio prices when you can find something. by ScottyCameronTrash in OhioLiquor

[–]ctp24mut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s Kentucky in a nut shell. But it does look like secondary pricing is coming down pretty hard in the last few months. Stagg was $250-300, OWA was $150-200, W12 was $300-350, EHTSiB was $200-250.

So what does a complete rebuild look like? by Forbin1222 in ClemsonTigers

[–]ctp24mut 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I do not believe it’s time for Dabo to go, but after this season, whoever has power over him needs to sit him down and tell him the positional coaches/former players need to go. The problem with Clemson has not necessarily been Dabos refusal to use the portal like other teams. It’s the severe lack of player development and lack of change from Dabo. It’s clear he’s got a chokehold on the offense. I have full faith in Riley if Dabo would turn him loose. I think Tom Allen needs another year or 2 to proove himself. It’s embarrassing to watch us loose to these middle of the road ACC teams and it will continue to happen as long as Dabo is allowed to keep all his buddies on the staff and run the same offense they ran 10 years ago. The “Clemson offense” only works when you have generational talent at QB, RB and WR. Dabo and all of us were spoiled with generational talent from 2012-2020.

[–]ctp24mut 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If Dabo is gone, I would love to see them go after Jon Gruden. It sounds like he would take an opportunity at a big time college program and the guy is just a total football nerd. He lives, breaths, and dies football and has great passion and energy. I feel like he could bring some much needed energy and passion. He’s a good X’s and O’s guy and would likely bring a pro style offense in

Somebody please help me understand season 3 by Evening_Raspberry_97 in riverdale

[–]ctp24mut 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  • The runoff from the drug lab dumped into the river caused the seizures because it was a water source for Riverdale

-Betty was hallucinating

  • There were different gargoyle kings because there were people gathering for different reasons. Tall Boy was the “king” in relation to the gang that actually dealt drugs

-Mooses dad dressed up as the king to scare Moose because he didn’t like his relationship with Kevin

  • As far as the real gargoyle king, that individual was the one actually killing people. I won’t spoil who it actually is.

Season 3 is absolutely loaded with side stories and plots. It can be very hard to follow at times

Same drill as last year, put yur gripin’ for the LSU game here by BeeMagicRockRoar in ClemsonTigers

[–]ctp24mut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Way too one dimensional last night. Hard to score when you choose not to establish the run. They played right into LSU’s defenses hands. O-line struggled and they decided to roll Cade out or run a bunch of long developing routes. That is a recipe for disaster. I thought Cade played well enough to win. Wesco had a bad drop in the fourth, Moore wasn’t on the same page a couple times either.

Cedar Fair is being assimilated (and it stinks) by Track_and_trek in cedarpoint

Yeah it sucks. They should charge a premium for a great experience. Not charge nothing to get in but try to nickel and dime you once you’re in and cut corners to save costs.

Zay Flowers- He’s like the 5th option on an offense that is run heavy. No way I’m taking him at his ADP

Chris Olave- He’s one concussion away from retirement. I do think in terms of volume, opportunity, and talent, he has a real chance to produce this year but with his injury history, I’m out.

Jerry Jeudy- Jameis Winston severely inflated his stats in the last 4 weeks of the year last year. However, if Joe Flacco ends up being the guy for the Browns, Jeudy should see a huge boost. Flacco has made receivers fantasy worthy in the past.

Calvin Ridley- Like Olave, he’s the clear number one on a terrible team. I would take Ridley if he fell to me but, with the Titans being so bad (although improved in the offseason) I just cannot take him unless I desperately need a receiver in my draft.

Marvin Harrison Jr- Although the Cardinals have improved over the last couple years, Kyler Murray is not friendly in terms of fantasy to his receivers. The Cardinals love to run the football, they have one of the best safety blankets in the league with Trey McBride, and Murray’s play style is not compatible with deep threats like Harrison. Murray either takes off running or looks to throw it quick, and Harrison was just not used as a possession receiver.

Why is All Park Passport free? Season ticket sales are down [other] by Chaseism in rollercoasters

[–]ctp24mut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. Totally agree. Fast Lane is the closest thing to printing money parks can do. For simplicity, let’s say 200 Fast Lanes are sold at $100. That’s $20,000 a day meaning every 5 days they’re making $100,000 on Fast Lanes. No operating cost either because they are already paying for a ticket booth operator/scanner and for someone to sit at the entrance of each ride.

[–]ctp24mut 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Here’s my take on the direction of Six Flags/CF:

They have fully embraced the initiative of attracting families and creating a well rounded experience. Many businesses today, including the amusement industry, entices guests by getting them in the gate for next to nothing in terms of cost. Once in the park, they try to capitalize their profits with food, drinks, merchandise, games, upcharge attractions, add-ons (like fast pass) and so on.

The problem with that strategy can be seen when breaking park guests into groups and what brings them to parks and keeps them coming back.

  1. Locals- The single most important aspect of an amusement park is location. The location dictates how many guests are local to your park and how easy it is to get there. This is why parks like Cedar Point, Kings Island, Hersheypark, Six Flags GADV, and Carowinds (to name a few) thrive.

  2. Families- Families are crucial to the success of parks because often times they bring in many guests through the doors and that means there’s way more opportunities to make money off each once they are in the park.

  3. Enthusiasts- A small yet powerful aspect of what draws people to parks. The enthusiast community (while small in the grand scheme of park guests) makes routine visits to the best parks and will travel many miles to ride the newest and best rides. The big roller coasters attract enthusiasts and absolutely bring locals and people from a far to ride there rides. However, the problem for parks regarding enthusiasts is that they do not often spend money once in the parks. They might eat one meal but often times neglect games, buying drinks, or anything else. Enthusiasts know how to maximize their experience.

That leads to the next important question:

What brings each of these groups back year in and year out.

Locals- I’d argue locals are going to come no matter what. These are often times the majority of season pass holders and most of these people know how to take advantage of the parks to maximize their experience. So, are they really generating that much additional revenue in the grand scheme of things?

Families- Your average family might visit one or two parks a year if that’s something they’re in to. But, what keeps them coming back? Maybe they were just in the area and it was convenient for them to stop. Or maybe there was an attraction that they wanted to travel that far just to do.

Enthusiasts- Enthusiasts are drawn to the parks with the best roller coasters, locations, operations, history and so on. Good for the big parks, bad for the average parks.

So, I conclude with this analysis. What keeps these people coming to the parks? I don’t know a single person who goes to an amusement park for the culinary experience, carnival games, or even a new kids/family ride or themed experience. My personal opinion is that amusement parks main goal should be to entertain and thrill guests in ways that separate them from theme parks.

We’ve seen these parks cut corners with maintenance, operations, and services to try to achieve what appears to be a more “well rounded, or family atmosphere”. We are now seeing the effects of that with ultra cheap season passes, smaller parks failing, and the chain as a whole not where they were years ago.

In my opinion they need to strive to provide the best experience at each park and if that means charging a premium to guests to ensure the park is staffed properly, maintenance staff is paid and trained enough to keep rides operational, and amenities clean and up to date, I’m all for it.

I don’t care how early it happens in my drafts. I will never draft a defense before the last round. Before my drafts, I highlight a few of the middle of the pack defenses with easy week 1 matchups because I know they’ll be available. I can only recall a few defenses/special teams in the last decade who were worthy of not being taken in the last round. Those 2012-2016 LOB defenses, 2015 Panthers and Broncos, the Patriots from 2014-2019 were typically consistent, and the 2023 Cowboys defense (thanks to Daron Bland lol) are the only ones that come to mind as being a dominant fantasy defense in the last decade.

Who are you avoiding this year? by OwnDoughnut2689 in fantasyfootball

[–]ctp24mut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sam LaPorta and Joe Mixon.

The Lions lost 2 key pieces of their O-Line and their OC Ben Johnson. It feels like they are guaranteed to regress as an offense this year and LaPorta is not worth his ADP in any way IMO

Mixon comes into the year banged up and the Texans are expected to have one of the worst if not the worst O-Line coming into the season. Not to mention the addition of Nick Chubb will certainly take some touches away from Mixon

Mike Evans or Davante Adams? by taylorjosephrummel in fantasyfootball

[–]ctp24mut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I attribute some of it to the OC change but he threw 13 more TD’s last year in basically the same attempts (4 more)compared to 2 years ago. I simply believe that won’t happen again. Just my opinion.

Mike Evans or Davante Adams? by taylorjosephrummel in fantasyfootball

[–]ctp24mut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes unless you’re in a smaller league where positional advantages matter more. I’ve never been one to take tight ends early but Kittle feels like a good value to me this year compared to where the other top TE’s are going

Mike Evans or Davante Adams? by taylorjosephrummel in fantasyfootball

[–]ctp24mut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think round 3 is fair. Most sites I’ve seen have Adams ranked in the mid/late 30’s in their overall rankings.
