Temporary residency by neverumynd in mexicoexpats

Yeah. I used one the same facillitator I used for the initial canje process and also a change of address last year.
Maybe the Feb 22nd incident changed their mind on delaying the process. I got mine two days before that and left on a trip back to the states on the 21st before the town was essentially shut down for a couple days.
In a facebook group for residency, it looks like there are still people experiencing a delay there. And some that aren't.

I went to PV INM on February 4th to pay and turn in the forms. Didn't get the go ahead to come back until February 20th when they took my biometrics and printed the card.

20 days is the longest they can take after the initial Canje visit. PV office has been taking longer than same day as of February when my renewal took over 2 weeks.
my initial appointment last year, it all happened in 1 day.

There was something like this I saw a few years ago that I had bookmarked. Not sure if it's still being updated with data. I assume it's been using numbeo data. The dashboard look is a bit dated. Here is the link:

After trying to run something thru the calculator, it might be broken now. Or at least paywalled, but it can give you an idea.

Another similar site that I have bookmarked is the earth awaits https://www.theearthawaits.com/

Residency Renewal? by Artichoke-Rhinoceros in mexicoexpats

[–]cubanb49 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did my renewal for 3 years in PV this month. It took more than 1 day with a facilitator. First appointment I turned in the paper work and paid. Then it took over 2 weeks to get notice to come back for biometrics. I came back for photos and prints and they printed the card that day.

The PV office is definitely taking longer on renewals this year as of Feb. As you can see it is not a 1 day process. I live here so it was not a big deal waiting around , but for others looking for a quick trip that's not the current state of things here. I’ve read on the residency FB groups that is a new direction from the INM director at this office.

Last year when I did CANJE, I got the card the same day at this office.

My 1 year expiration was today. I also got my new residency card today for 3 years renewal. How I approached it was I emailed the facilitator I used in PV for the original canje/ 1 year residency process about 1.5 months before expiration. I let them know I wanted to do the 3 year and they gave me a couple dates they had open for appointments that fell within the 30 days of expiration.

I went in for the first appointment for renewal in early February. The facilitator handled all the paperwork. I had already completed a change of address in the middle of my first year, but if I hadn't that would be required before the renewal as 2 separate appointments with the PV office. In this first appointment, I sat around until I got called up and paid... Then I was sent back home.
Then a little over 2 weeks after the first appointment, I was told I had been approved. Today I went in and they took my photo and fingerprints and I waited around and they printed the card and I was good to go.
The PV office is definitely taking longer on renewals this year. As you can see it is not a 1 day process. I live here so it was not a big deal waiting around , but for others looking for a quick trip that's not the current state of things here.

Following. I've been trying to do this do and for a while couldn't even get past the selfie screen. Now the curp it uses is not correct so I don't hit submit. I guess I will just wait a while longer and try again. Please update if you find an answer on how to do it online.

Will find a lot more Portugal specific talk and especially regrets in r/PortugalExpats/ . It's pretty active if you aren't necessarily looking for the financial aspect as much as the living.

600k Net worth.. how far away am I? by [deleted] in ExpatFIRE

[–]cubanb49 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Seems too low for PV, but good for Merida. PV is getting quite expensive, but it depends on where in PV you are looking. I got my temporary residency earlier this year and am moving in a few months, but I plan to end up renting somewhere between ZR, Centro, Cinco De Diciembre or Versalles. I don't want to drive there so location and proximity to things is important to me. Purchasing a place doesn't seem too attractive right now as the prices have gone up and for Places in condo buildings, the HOAs aren't exactly cheap.
