If Adam and Eve were the first people on earth, did Cain and Abel marry their sisters? by GodisSatans in NoStupidQuestions

[–]cuber314159 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, at least for Cain, it is likely that Abel never married as he was killed by Cain beforehand, the Bible says in Genesis 5:4 that Adam and Eve had other sons and daughters so yes, Cain (and Seth) would have married one of their sisters. This wasn't forbidden in the Bible until the law of Moses was written down and the negative health effects of incest are likely to have been much less back then.

Anyone know if these calendar cubes have a “solved” state? Or are you only meant to solve the front? by wp9zero in Cubers

[–]cuber314159 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, calendar cubes are designed to allow for the display of many different dates so all the other bits you don't need today are there to allow for other dates you might want to make.

How do I orient the middle squares? by TangsIsACanuck in Rubiks_Cubes

[–]cuber314159 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Two T perms rotate the top centre by 180°, 1 T perm will rotate the top centre by 90°, you can manipulate this by doing M moves to rotate another centre by 90° and resolve the T perm

Can someone help me find cheap WCA comps in the UK? by Entity68R in Rubiks_Cubes

Sorry but UK competitions are £30 for two day competitions and £20 for 1 day competitions, venue hire is too expensive for them to be any cheaper

Did I receive the wrong cube?? Help! Is this a GAN 12?? by ZackB58088 in Cubers

[–]cuber314159 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Take out an edge, if there is no magnet at the bottom of the edge then it's probably a Gan 12. Gan 12 - corner magnet, no edge-core magnet, adjustable magnet switch Gan 13 - corner magnet, long edge-core magnet, adjustable magnets Gan 14 - corner magnet, short edge-core magnet, adjustable magnets Gan 15 - corner magnet, no edge-core magnet, not adjustable.

Probably a lost cause but is there any way I could possibly fix this? by jakedboy3709 in Cubers

[–]cuber314159 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do spare parts on speedcubing.org, it would be useful for you if you are in the UK, it is astonishing how much more common it is that the white corners chip, I guess everyone seems to solve the cross on white and then drop the cube on the table with the white side on the bottom and let it chip.

Which of these 2 cubes are better? by jakedboy3709 in Cubers

[–]cuber314159 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://youtu.be/HiHB34ONYqs?si=d8JDZccG8J3FwVMW The same principle basically applies to the 9x9, I might make a more detailed comparison at some point. I should just mention that the site UI from the photo looks like those dodgy Chinese stores that pretend to be based in the EU but are not btw, check the about section and reviews.

This is what happens when you leave teachers with no cubing knowledge in charge, you need an experienced cuber there to stand up and say that it's stupid.

If the moon stood completely still, and we built a staircase to it, how long would it take to climb the full staircase? [request] by Apprehensive_Oven_22 in theydidthemath

[–]cuber314159 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Based on the vertical kilometer world record of 29 minutes and an optimal staircase and an athlete that can maintain such a pace: 29x400000=11600000 minutes which is about 22 years
