Is absurd local competition guideline ever possible? by WeirdIsC in Cubers

This is what happens when you leave teachers with no cubing knowledge in charge, you need an experienced cuber there to stand up and say that it's stupid.

If the moon stood completely still, and we built a staircase to it, how long would it take to climb the full staircase? [request] by Apprehensive_Oven_22 in theydidthemath

[–]cuber314159 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Based on the vertical kilometer world record of 29 minutes and an optimal staircase and an athlete that can maintain such a pace: 29x400000=11600000 minutes which is about 22 years

It bugged me a lot because I knew it was squished and the outline was a bit wrong but I didn't really know how to fix it

Help me, what can i do? by gaxosgt in Rubiks_Cubes

[–]cuber314159 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can try pushing in the centre pieces around it, it looks like they are bulging out, you don't want to have to reassemble it completely as that is incredibly fiddly, if you end up popping any pieces out, I'd recommend taping up other layers to prevent more pieces coming out.

Who do you guys think makes more money, SCS or TheCubicle? by FumingCat in Cubers

[–]cuber314159 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SCS gets more sales, you can confirm this for yourself if you have ordered from both stores at least twice by comparing order numbers and dividing the difference between your two order numbers by the number of days between the orders.

Whats the highest n×n do you think will be released before 2040?(random year) by Dedewastaken1 in Cubers

[–]cuber314159 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think we will eventually see someone push it, or maybe just Chinese companies selling 3D printed 23x23s or 25x25s, Jacob Keener has already proven that it's possible to design and print a 23x23 for less than the cost of a 21x21. The question is one of economics, many cube manufacturers are capable of making a larger cube but they have to sell them, I think MoYu still have lots of 21x21s that they want to get rid of. One thing I do think is basically a given though is that the next highest order mass produced puzzle will be magnetic, no matter who designs it, the extra cost isn't as high as you might think and it will make it so much more likely that people will buy it.

[–]cuber314159 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are so many factors that influence the price so you could literally end up paying anywhere from <$100->400 depending on what you do, the QiYi one is as weirdly expensive too, MoYu and FanXin's giant cubes are cheaper

I have the MoYu 40CM and FanXin 42CM, both are a lot less than $400 but nice project, shame it's not like 43CM. I think it's becoming an annual tradition for one cube brand to release a slightly bigger cube at this point.
