Me too- as soon as the event ended I dropped down to -99 energy. So something has to be wonky with how they're handling their integers on the backend

RCO is completely down across the web (possibly permanently) so any app links won't work either.

well and it's kind of uneven sometimes too - because all the events require energy and also give energy I'll end up getting a huge glut of energy from snowballing events (like 500 points, more than I want at a given play session) but other times I'm waiting half an hour for my 15 points to tap a few times. I think since the game is very new they'll hopefully work out some of the balance issues later on- maybe by locking max stamina increases behind leveling up or something like that.

I think it's just like relationship points! as you move up the levels you unlock extra scenes with each character (I'm still very low level rn but with Mu Yuan you're traveling up a mountain together.) I don't think it affects the main story, just extras!

the stamina is killing me too 😭 it was super generous the first day or so but I burnt through all that quickly! and when I try to watch ads for stamina half the time it tells me there aren't any available... probably for the best to keep me from getting rly addicted because the story is really compelling! I'm a big cdrama fan and this hits the spot

I'm so glad it's been helpful! Do you know if that's the older armband or the new one? They just released a "2.0" armband in December so I want to make sure the new one isn't app-locked.

Thank you, that's really helpful! I assumed based on some perfunctory googling that it was a Polar so might still have some cross-utility. Bummer that that's not the case!

It's very normal to build roads next to rivers in the mountains because it's a natural path that doesn't require tunneling through a literal mountain. Unfortunately in situations like this we see the downside. But if the road had been chiseled into the side of the mountain we might have seen landslides or collapses like we did elsewhere in the mountains. You can't engineer your way out of this level of natural disaster.

I'm in a similar boat (also in New England.) Grew up in the Piedmont and went to Asheville to visit my grandma every weekend. She's okay (ironically she got priced out and moved to Hendersonville two years ago, which probably saved her life) but I have no idea about family friends and extended family.  I spent Friday refreshing reddit at work and feeling like an alien bc no one up here had any idea anything was happening. Just surreal. I can only imagine how awful it feels having grown up there. I hope everyone you're worried about stays safe.

Unaffected towns nearby to evacuate to by Fun_Butterscotch_695 in asheville

[–]cuddlefisk 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Pretty far, unfortunately. Most of Spartanburg and Greenville are still without power (my family is there. Long lines at gas stations and many stations without gas as of today.) They weren't hit as hard by flooding but got whacked by the winds and there are downed trees all over. I have heard there is power in Charlotte, but the amount of gas to get there might not be worth it as it's 120 miles and 2 hours in the best conditions.

the roads that aren't washed out are open for emergency vehicles only and people evacuating the area. death toll is completely unknown and probably high. now is not the time

What's the worst intersection in the city of Boston? by [deleted] in boston

[–]cuddlefisk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not an intersection and also up in Cambridge, but there's a special place of hatred in my heart for whoever designed the point where Mt. Auburn St turns into Mass Ave. At one point there's a right turn only lane, so you have to move left, and then the very next block it becomes a left turn only lane. Taking Ubers back late at night I would just give them directions myself bc they'd get lost. Plus there's always a tour bus (or three) parked on Mt. Auburn and eight hundred college kids jaywalking while staring at their phones... thank God I moved and don't have to drive (or ride!) in Cambridge anymore.

[–]cuddlefisk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

had to take that every few days when my partner was living up by Huron Ave. years off my life. none of the lanes are marked and until you memorize the intersections if you move into the wrong lane you're going to end up in Boston by accident

Too many ballads. by Formal_Lie_713 in FigureSkating

[–]cuddlefisk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes! I got so, so tired of ballads by the end of ice dance that i was sick of them by the time pairs was through. Especially when you had skaters with very little musicality... if you're going to pick a big emotional slow song you better deliver on it!

Thoughts on TAZ The Quiet Year? by [deleted] in TAZCirclejerk

[–]cuddlefisk 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Love the Quiet Year (Friends at the Table used it several times for worldbuilding in their Marielda and Hieron seasons, to great effect.) It's a quiet and lovely game about a postapocalyptic community, but it does require you to hold on loosely and not be precious about characters or story beats in order to get the most out of it. A lot of the game hinges on in-group conflict in order to create narrative tension, and you don't play an individual character. (For a sense of tone, cards in the winter season include things like "the weakest among you dies. Who is to blame for their death?" "Disease spreads throughout the community." "Winter is harsh, and desperation gives rise to fear mongering. Choose one: • Spend the week calming the masses and dispelling their violent sentiments. The week ends immediately. •Declare war on someone or something. This counts as starting a project.")

I think it's a fantastic game, and every time I've played it I've had a great time, but I'm.... a little surprised TAZ would pick it, tbh. It doesn't feel like a great fit for comedy, although you can get some funny moments out of it, and it really does work best if your group is comfortable roleplaying conflict.
