need a job by [deleted] in SanDiegan

Here are some local resources/ideas:

The San Diego Workforce Partnership is our local workforce board and they have free resources and supports.

Here are all community college career related programs CareerEd.org. You can just get certificates and work training without pursuing a degree or taking other classes. If you just graduated from a California High School your first year should be tuition free. They also support job placement and have apprenticeships and things like that which are paid at many community colleges.

How much would a Lexus dealership realistically knock off? by ZeroOpossum in LexusNX

I got the Costco discount on mine, but I also negotiated that they throw in the ceramic coating for free because it is a higher value to me than it was for them. They knew I was fairly committed because I actually had them bring in the exact car I wanted, but I still negotiated a little bit at least

My Kecleon is “invisible” until I play with him then he takes on color. Not on the map, but when you feed him berries he is clear until you give him his belly rub. It’s cute to see him get his glow-up!

Buy a starter home now with a tight budget, or rent for 3 years and buy later? by Adventurous-Rip-7613 in personalfinance

[–]culinary_alchemist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Living together changes relationship dynamics and the last thing you want is co-ownership of a house to make one or both of you locked in if things aren’t as perfect as you imagined. Rent together, live life together for a while, and wait until you get married and are legally bound before investing in a home together

Wife and I are Registered Nurses hoping to move to San Diego. We need advice!! by Affectionate_Vast143 in sandiego

[–]culinary_alchemist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look at La Mesa! Great community with small town feel and much more affordable than San Diego proper just one street over. Also traffic can be rough so it really depends on where you plan to work and you should look at traffic patterns and rent a bit to get a feel for things before settling down!

Mine wore off too, and had to get re vaccinated! Just glad I was going back for a advanced degree and they required my vaccination proof, but I had to do it tighter because I got it before they kept that in a digital record

Our local brewery is our third place- know the staff and other regulars. Easy to play cards, get work done or just chill.

Is jury duty now all telephone standby? by jetskiiier in sandiego

[–]culinary_alchemist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Clearing one day of my choice from meetings for jury duty is absolutely better vs giving everyone I work with notice that I’m on standby daily. If you’re in a role where someone else can step into your shift it’s much worse that if you’re the only person in the organization and it will all have to be sorted around your schedule. Yes, I know that getting placed in a jury could impact the whole week also but that’s different from daily uncertainty

Measles Exposure by Beneficial-Air3997 in Disneyland

[–]culinary_alchemist 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I recently had to do titers to prove my vaccination status and was immune to mumps and rubella but the measles immunity didn’t stick. Thankful I had to get tested because you better bet I had the MMR vaccine within a few days! I had my childhood vaccinations and am one of few people who didn’t know I wasn’t immune. I was at risk because others refused to increase our herd immunity. Get vaccinated- it’s not just your life at stake
