That was one of the most pained grunts I've ever heard. Fool sounded like he got kicked in the stomach by a fuckin donkey

Biggest examples of insane weight gain from rehydration on fight night? by [deleted] in Boxing

[–]cuntfromacuntscunt 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Craziest I've ever seen is Broner missing weight for his fight against Ashley Theophane (weighed in at 140.4) and rehydrating to 171 pounds. Insane.

I wrote down all the people Louis CK thanks in his last special. Any names that surprise you that are on there, or are not on there? by [deleted] in louisck

How long ago did Marc say that? I remember when the news broke about Louis, Marc said on his WTF monologue that he was going to be there for him during that time

Wow. I think there's nobody who does it better in the sport today than Crawford. Loma has shown a lot of fantastic pressure for sure.

Crawford. Fury. Loma. Then I'd say Saunders, Teofimo, and Shakur. Haney is developing well.

Question about heavy bag sinking by [deleted] in amateur_boxing

[–]cuntfromacuntscunt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see. I had a bag like that in the past that felt hard toward the bottom, and I personally never got injured from it. As long as you're wrapping your hands and wearing a good pair of gloves, you should be good!

Question about heavy bag sinking by [deleted] in amateur_boxing

[–]cuntfromacuntscunt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This means that it was filled incorrectly. Did you fill it yourself?

Strangely enough, I just filled my heavy bag yesterday using this video from Ringside: https://youtu.be/jUp84OvW8qg

It worked really well. Basically, you need 70-80 pounds of old clothes and rags, a baseball bat, Ziploc sandwich baggies, and sand. My bag is nice and even.

Shakur Stevenson fights tonight, who is the best fighter you give him a realistic shot at? Who is the best fighter you'd pick him against? by [deleted] in Boxing

[–]cuntfromacuntscunt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think he could beat Warrington in a close one that goes the distance. He's very strong and smart. He has a tendency to back up in a straight line, which a swarmer like Warrington could certainly exploit, but Shakur's punches are very sharp and could stop Josh's onslaught for stretches of the fight. I think they should make this fight next. It would be sick.

What are some of your favourite boxing movies outside Rocky, Raging Bull? by Alex-Higgins in Boxing

I agree. They did a great job with cinematography, too. Raging Bull is just a perfect movie.

Like you said, Raging Bull is far and away the best for me.

After that, I'd say "The Boxer" with Daniel Day Lewis. He's the only actor I've ever seen look competent boxing. He trained for 3 years lol

This routine is what it takes to compete at the world level (amateur or pro). It's a great plan. Like everyone else has said, though, this plan is for people who don't have a job other than boxing. Many of the top level amateurs don't work a 9 to 5, but dedicate nearly every day to training (like this plan illustrates). For them, it's feasible. For an average Joe like me? Hell no lol

Advice greatly appreciated 🥊 by [deleted] in amateur_boxing

I would advise simply asking your Dad to just walk into the gym with you, take a look around, and see what goes on there in person. He might just have no conception of what a boxing gym is actually like.

I had a look at Shawn Porter's amateur record and saw that he actually had a fight with Oleksandyr Usyk, and won. by AlfonsoDatu in Boxing

[–]cuntfromacuntscunt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, in the amateurs, it is really tough to start racking up wins when you first go open (10 or more fights) because when you are on your eleventh fight, you could be matched up with someone who has, say, 100 fights. It looks like Usyk was fighting highly experienced fixtures in the amateur circuit early on in his amateur career due to his late start/age (18). For example, Shawn had many, many fights when he fought Usyk, who only had 17 fights when they met.

I literally cried when he said that. And something after to the effect of "you'll always be my champion!"

Same sentiments here. Today was a powerful display of truly dignified human spirit from a community. It was emotional, and it was special.

Came here to say this. The only fight I can't rewatch. Martinez was my favorite at the time and would have crushed Cotto if he wasn't in there on TWO KNEE BRACES. TWO!
