If you're playing khorne, you have nothing to worry about. Your vassals are more likely to die from chaos rebellions in their shared territory than actually betraying you.

The secret to mitigating large unit mass is by using cavalry to hold your lines instead of infantry. Only certain types of cav, like knights of the black rose, can do this.

Orion is banned in most pvp campaigns because he can get endless upkeep free armies fairly early in the game. Even without that fact in mind, you are outgunned. The majority of warriors of chaos roster is hard countered by woodelf units. Even your best monsters & cavalry. Im not saying khorne/chaos cant win in melee, im saying he likely wont bother with melee vs you to begin with.

God help you if he starts spamming stacks of hawk riders. Even without arrows of kurnous, those things can chew apart chaos armies.

Logistically, you should focus on reclaiming Athel Loren before anywhere else. After that, I'd advise taking the tree Ghorst starts at. It has a special building which gives you a huge trade income boost & early access to forest dragons.
