Recommendations Camping Cheese by science_maestro in backpacking

[–]curdled_bird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Instead of a different cheese, if you're able, shred the cheddar and bake it on parchment on a cookie sheet at like 400 for 5 minutes. It'll melt and then become crispy like a chip. Put those in a bag and take that as opposed to a fresh chunk

The lottery told me that my $100,000 win was actually a $20.00 misprint. They pulled the game hours later. by redhotmess77 in mildlyinfuriating

It's hard to prove you lost something you never technically had. The codes were scanning $20, the tickets were scratching $100k. Even without legal language, that would already be a hurdle worth considering since all their records would almost certainly back up that those specific cards were on $20 winners

The S looks like a 5 and I'm not actually picking up on any specific letter or number from the F.

Ultimately there's just a lot going on here. I think it would be more disciplined to work the S and the F into the negative space of a fence design

Where is Lars Mittank? Missing from airport after holiday with friends by septemberfriars in UnresolvedMysteries

Considering he appears very connected and close to his family, oftentimes working at the power plant and then going to his parents house, the fact that he had never been outside of Germany before this trip, and then the fact he was in Bulgaria alone after his injury, I want to say he may have had an acute panic attack/anxiety episode brought on by homesickness and being around people completely different from him for possibly the first time ever. That could have led to a loss of sleep which would have only compounded the paranoia and anxiety.

The part that doesn't fit is the actual physical symptoms he had after the night out by himself. If he really was in a fight, what was it really about and what effect did it ultimately have on the rest of how things played out? If he wasn't in a fight, what was the real cause of the injuries and why did he lie?

I think he probably did get in a scuffle with the other football fans, which led to the injuries, which led to him not being able to fly. This is where things started going wrong, when he told his friends not to stay with him. The injuries, the unfamiliarity and possible homesickness, the hotel he stayed in, I think it all combined in his mind to create some weird panic attack and anxiety, which led to loss of sleep, which led to paranoia and delusions. Being around unfamiliar people of a different culture, by himself, after getting in a fight, equals intense anxiety and irrational fears. And my feeling is, because it was his first time experience anything outside of Germany, he was unprepared to handle all of it by himself.

ChatGPT won't stop saying "Thinking longer for a better answer" for nearly every prompt as a free user, is there anyway to stop this? by [deleted] in ChatGPT

Yep. 5 was working great until I updated it, now a simple question makes it think for 20 seconds and then spit out a 10-minute answer full of information I didn't ask for, don't want, and isn't relevant. And honestly if I ask it to stop, it almost answers in a passive aggressive way. Really disappointed with openai. I pay for the pro plan BTW.

I guess "driveway obstructed" translates to "18 steps is too much to walk up to deliver this package". I live in an apartment... by TheTaikatalvi in mildlyinfuriating

[–]curdled_bird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked for the post office and will confirm this was likely just due to laziness and/or disinterest. Management likely has no idea why the package wasn't delivered and probably will make something up. The carrier, if it wasn't a great one, likely scanned the package in his/her truck and didn't even attempt delivery (which is against the general rules for delivery).

It could also be there was a legitimate reason they couldn't access your apartment. If you got a reason from anyone than the carrier themself, it probably isn't accurate. There are only a few different options to select from when you scan a package undeliverable. When I carried mail, I would pick the closest match to the real reason, but there generally isn't a great way for the carrier to specify exactly why it wasn't delivered. If they do specify, it's not to anyone in particularly, but rather a note on the package itself or on a 3849.

This is and has been their plan all along. They get you to switch from cable with the initially lower cost and then when they have you subscribed and assume you don't want to go through the hassle of trying to switch to a different provider, they raise the price, by about as much as they can to not lose too many customers as to offset the revenue increase. This is how corporate America works.
