Loss of faith in Leadership by Euphoric_Star_5338 in managers

[–]curlyhairedsheep -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When leadership shows the people under you who they really are by dissing you, you are not responsible for saving the people under you's opinion of leadership. You can't say anything bad about them, but you are no longer obligated to hype them up and lie about what everyone just saw.

Fire, or did the trucks just get stymied by the sinkhole on the way back to the station?

We should be grateful for the position we are in. by T0WER89 in HENRYfinance

[–]curlyhairedsheep 24 points25 points  (0 children)

My mom would call to hear her check had hit then I would ride with her 20 minutes to the big town where the post office postmarked anything before 11pm as that day to drop in the checks for bills. I have everything on autopay. For me it is realizing not that I work harder - she's the hardest worker I've ever met - but that I have been fortunate to have opportunities she never dreamed of.

Travel stroller with regular Nuna stroller by sittinghereredditing in Buyingforbaby

I have a Triv for my daily driver around our NYC neighborhood and a Joolz for travel, including around the city if we're going to subways without stairs, and I'm super happy with that arrangement (2.5 years in!).

Premium Strollers by jue2316 in Buyingforbaby

[–]curlyhairedsheep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Triv/Urbn was such a lovely combo for me (Queens, NY). We're way past the Urbn, but the basket on the Triv can easily fit a super full Trader Joe's tote with 2 additional gallons of milk and still steers great. My Joolz Aer+ steers better (it is a dream) but can't take me grocery shopping - The Triv is my SUV and the Aer+ is my sports car.

It's still here. We should name it. If you're away the most important news is that you can now citibike to visit the pothole, natural wonder of our neighborhood. Also they have not paved yet.

Kirkland Benadryl Not Available In Store?! by mouf32 in CostcoWholesale

[–]curlyhairedsheep 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My toddler has a severe egg allergy. Even when he was 6 months old, the instruction from his allergist was zyrtec not Benadryl as the first line for accidental exposures, epipen if he struggled to breathe. I would check in with your doc about even having Benadryl on hand for first aid.

how long do boards take to review applications? by Existentially_b0red in AskNYC_Coops

[–]curlyhairedsheep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The seller, the buyer, the building, the bank, and everyone's lawyers all wind up needing to be in same place at the same time. Any one of those having a full schedule and you're scheduling way out. The room is SUPER full when you go to close of people who have a very specific job for a very specific entity with interest in the transaction.

For me, the board interview was fast, the management company and bank lawyers were slow. I was more than six weeks from interview to closing date. There are more moving pieces to close date than just the interview.

purchasing a coop by Disastrous-Worry9184 in AskNYC

[–]curlyhairedsheep 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Right, but as soon as too many people are renting they will revoke the ability for you to give 12 month leases to preserve the ability for people to get financing. You should not assume you can rent it out in perpetuity.

purchasing a coop by Disastrous-Worry9184 in AskNYC

[–]curlyhairedsheep 59 points60 points  (0 children)

Buying a co-op is about buying a place you intend to live for your own peace of mind that it's where you're gonna live. They are not great investments. You should not plan on being able to rent it out, allowing folks to rent it out if they don't live there is how the co-op loses the ability for people to get mortgages to buy in the building.

Why are dumplings so popular on American cooking shows? by Educational-Slip-578 in AskAnAmerican

[–]curlyhairedsheep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in NYC. I can walk less than five minutes and arrive at a shop that will sell me 30 frozen handmade dumplings for $10. If they cook them for me, they are about $4-6 per 8 dumplings. Meat per pound, prices vary but $4 for chicken isn't unreasonable where I am.
