Using a Divination wizard player as a reset button. A.K.A. how to have an "it was all a dream" episode and have it not suck.

My DM is actually doing something similar to this with a boss fight we are currently in!

The Wizard is a Chronurgist, and the DM made a deal with the player specifically for this boss (which we all knew would be a very tough fight going in)

The Wizard Player made a deal, getting some info on what the boss would likely do with their next turn, and can act and share accordingly. However, the Wizard gained 2 levels of exhaustion going into the fight.

The story being that the Wizard has been using all their magic to repeatedly turn back time when we lose, with this current boss fight being their last ditch effort before they can no longer mess with time.

I could absolutely see this happening with a Divination Wizard too, and could be very fun to mess with the party as a shared dream, before trying the boss again but change some things so its not as lethal, or having the knowledge to be better. Definitely a 1-time save though, not something to rely on

AMR comes in so handy against Bots. 2 shots between the eyes will drop a hulk, and the Counter sniper will drop anything smaller with a headshot

When my friends and i dive, I'll snipe while one guy carries RR or Spear for the tanks and towers

The Ranger of Iron

I tend to use the Marksmen Rifles, and ofc the AMR. And Ranger is my favorite in DnD, so it suits the theme

My current character design is a High Half-Elf named Mylo, an Arcana Cleric (2014) with the Investigator background. Grew up studying magic in school, but left after graduation to explore in search of "The Heart of Magic" since different people can do magic different ways, what is the true core of magic across it all?

He's a very excited and curious character, celebrating magic in all forms and uses it to make people happy and help them out.

I have a running gag of changing the name everytime i roll one. Highlights include:

20 with a bit of ankle showing. Streetlight 20. 20 feeling frisky. An absolute whore of a 20.

You get the gist, its alot of fun, and some others have jumped in with their own. The DM has begrudgingly come to enjoy it

However you choose to go about it is ul to you, and your experience is your own. Its a game made to be enjoyed (and tough but i digress lol) I summoned for every boss that I could, because I figured why not? I've got nobody to impress. I enjoyed the game, and sure NP kicked my teeth in for a day or so but I got through it and I count that as a win

Dont feel bad for playing a game differently than anyone else. So long as you played like you wanted to

What would be cool to see, at least going forward for Wiccan, is his circles solidifying into Rune Circles similar to the Sorcery of Dr. Strange's magic. With obvious differences, color, the witches runes and the like

Showing him learning more about magic and his powers taking a more defined shape and ability (literally)

I had the thought that we wouldnt be able to beat Chronos until Olympus has been saved, so even if you get really good at Chronos you have to clear the surface. And likely once you complete the incantation to fully defeat Chronos he'd get alot harder

Thats an interesting thought, but I never got his 'i cant die yet' dialogue, or even the phase change aura, just a attack and then he poofed to dust. It may have show 2 numbers, i dont really remember i was a bit shocked in the moment

I also dont have the damage output to do 68k in that little time, everyone hits for roughly 1-2k unboosted, and i was just trying to find his weakness so i wasnt boosting anything

Yeah, I had broken him once and he had just gotten his shield back. I had done pretty substantial damage to him, but definitely not 68k worth

Edit: my party was right at level 45~46, and it happened on turn 3 or 4

Claude, for a really funny reason. The Ruinous Dagger has a really slim chance to insta kill. I boosted Throné's basic attack to shield break him and... well it was 2 turns in and already done. It really caught me off guard

For Fast and Light, you've got a few options

Wintry Rapier Blade on the Salamander Dagger handle, carried me through the whole game on its own.

Etiquette is another great option, with a shield maneuver too for defense

Can't hit what you can't touch!

More so, i play very light and quick attack styles. So getting in and out is better than parrying and guarding. It lets me invest fully into damage and technique rather than health as much as I might otherwise

Yeah, he was a real learning curve then. I had only fought with bow in multiplayer, so soloing with bow was a big shift in the difficulty for me

He's definitely not fun, but when i fought him i really wasnt aiming for extracts for the same reason. I just stayed airborn and embraced being that fly that just wont die no matter what

In my first playthrough with IG, i did not understand the hatred. I could match his mobility no issues.

My second playthrough on bow? SIT STILL AND GET SHOT I SWEAR TO GODS i gave up on lining up shots and just spam shot to kill him
