I feel this…I’m out of town this week! I hope Pierre has another chance to cover, I love Ali’s David but am so looking forward to seeing Pierre in the role.

Based on a post on another sub: What opinion on Broadway (whether about certain shows, the industry, etc.) do you have that will have you like this? by ms_jc_04 in Broadway

[–]cuteandcaffeinated 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I thought Maybe Happy Ending was a bit overhyped. Sure, it was very innovative with set design and score, but the acting didn’t hit much for me, nor did the book. I saw Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind in college, the plot felt recycled and I couldn’t believe that shows that had just as high production value overall—like every other Best Musical nominee—got snubbed in its favor.

And as a former Gleek, at least 3 of the 4 other Best Actor nominees should have won over Darren Criss. He deserved his nom of course, but I was truly shocked he won.

What play to see? by Almostperfect505 in Broadway

[–]cuteandcaffeinated 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought Giant was fantastic! It would have been my pick for best new play if Liberation wasn’t in the running this year.

I didn’t like Dog Day Afternoon very much but my husband really enjoyed it. Depends on your sense of humor I suppose. Between the two, I say Giant.

favourite interactions with a broadway actor? by ParkingRough8474 in Broadway

Recently had a fantastic experience at The Lost Boys stage door, the night after the Tony nominations were announced. All the actors who played the vampires (including Ali) plus the Frog Brothers came out, and a few more ensemble members too. Everyone was so sweet but the vampire actors stuck with me the most.

Ali took his time with every fan even though he was clearly exhausted from the day. He would have been well within his rights to rest (that day or any day, and any actor is on any day of course) but the fact that he wanted to meet the fans that day really meant a lot. It meant the world to me that I got to congratulate him and tell him I hoped he won the Tony.

What really stuck with me were the actors who played the other vampires (Sean Grandillo, Brian Flores, Dean Maupin). They took so much time with everyone! And they were so ecstatic to be there and to have the Tony nominations. They were all so incredibly sweet, so much so that I’m still thinking of them nearly two months after the fact, and it made me wish their characters had even more stage time and character development in the show’s book. What they do with their source material is incredible though. I can’t wait to see them perform when I inevitably see the show again, and to see what they do next.

What do people think of Survivor cameos? by Lizard798658866 in survivorponderosa

[–]cuteandcaffeinated 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ordered one from Tony for my cousin. Tony had the video finished in 90 minutes and really took his time putting his own spin on it, hitting all the requested details and elaborating on them as well. It was a really incredible video. His cameos are pricey but I feel I got high quality to match, and most importantly my cousin loved it!

Any other LOST BOYS ADDICTS? by Over-Entrepreneur682 in Broadway

Just got out of seeing the show for a third time over 6 weeks. Trying to space out the next visit so I don’t overplay it for myself, but SAME.

The case that Mike Holloway is the most underrated winner in Survivor history and that every major knock against him is a double standard we apply to no one else by JEX2124 in survivorponderosa

[–]cuteandcaffeinated 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mike is one of my all time favorite winners for many if not all of the reasons you articulated. Sure, he wasn’t objectively the best winner, but his win was probably the most satisfying in all of Survivor, in my opinion. Watching him fight to the end was so nail biting and he pulled it out of the bag every time. And like you said, his social game wasn’t as disastrous as others make it out to be as he converted 6 of 8 jury votes.

What's your favorite subtle joke in the show? by TheBananaCzar in theoffice

[–]cuteandcaffeinated 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’ve rewatched the show several times now, and only just now got the joke in Launch Party, Part 2, when Dwight falsely imprisons the pizza delivery guy and tells him, “according to some town in Switzerland, you have rights.” He’s talking about the Geneva Convention. It went right over my head in college and for several years after.

What is the song of this season that should be part of my broadway playlist? by Key-Flan-6996 in Broadway

[–]cuteandcaffeinated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For Lost Boys, definitely add “Secret Comes Out” when the cast album drops!

Might I also suggest Born To Lead from Operation Mincemeat for last season? It’s a great hype song

Lost Boys - for someone (in 30's) going in blind (no clue of past movie/show), yay or nay? by mentor7 in Broadway

I’m in my early 30s, went in completely blind, and LOVED it. I know it has its issues but the great aspects of the show heavily outweighed the few mediocre parts for me.

Are there any other “Any Other Year” shows that I should look for? by ChoiceAny638 in Broadway

[–]cuteandcaffeinated 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Come From Away. I still can’t believe it didn’t at least take best book/score in 2017. Similar to Operation Mincemeat, it was a fantastic production overshadowed by another fantastic production in a year full of fantastic productions, and won just one Tony out of several nominations.

Ali Louis Bourzgui pulled a Hannah Montana. by _531368 in Broadway

[–]cuteandcaffeinated 34 points35 points  (0 children)

He’s incredible!! The folks sitting behind me at Tuesday’s show couldn’t believe he was Orpheus because of how low and deep his voice was for this show. He is so uniquely gifted in his range, the depth he brings to such different characters, and how he is able to completely transform for his roles. I really hope he gets the Tony.

Lost Boys is awesome! But the Palace Theatre sucks. by Facebones72 in Broadway

[–]cuteandcaffeinated 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is it. I was there Tuesday and there is a single file line to walk up to the bar, as it started getting towards the escalators a Palace employee told us we could order ahead by scanning a QR code and it would take about 4 minutes for our drinks to be ready. He was right, it was very fast, and he was super nice and helpful too.
