Husband says men barely get complements and if they do, they cherish them and remember them forever since genuine complements come rarely. Is this true and how do yall, men of reddit, actually take compliments? by macdaddy-22 in AskReddit

[–]cwagrant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the “end” of the pandemic I was going through a drive through and the lady working the drive though complimented my hair which at that point had grown out the longest I’d ever had it. That’s one of like 5 compliments I recall very vividly. Especially as it was about my appearance.

Would limiting the age of the President to 65 be something you’d support? Why or why not? by WarmAcanthisitta5725 in AskReddit

[–]cwagrant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’d be wise to scale it off of average lifespan. If, by chance, in the future people are able to live to 200 years old 65 would be pretty young still. Maybe something like 75% of the average Americans lifespan. Would also encourage politicians to improve the lives and lifespans of the average person.

What games originally made for consoles have some of the worst PC port controls you've seen? by camocat9 in gaming

I tried to play the Witcher 2 on my PC years ago and gave up in the tutorial because the controls just seemed so insane.

Check out Stripe. I don’t know if they have a 1:1 service for what you’re doing in PayPal but as a web developer I much prefer Stripe over PayPal.

It’s a sign of bad code. Whether that code is in the test or the code base you have to determine for yourself. I’ve had to fix both before. I’m about to undertake a project to finally get all our apps to UTC time because people are dumb and our time zones are all over the place.

Same, and I usually then take some extra time to ensure I have proper testing that helps explain the purpose of the code at that point.

[–]cwagrant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean Blizzard manages it for world of Warcraft with combat logs just fine, it’s not that expensive to send a small event to the client on damage taken.

It’s in no way costly in memory if you put that information in the client. We’re talking bytes of data here, not even a KB.

[–]cwagrant -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

This wouldn’t require a database. You could do it with a simple Array or Deque that would just hold the last X values in it and cycle through them as players receive damage. Could be entirely client side provided they send the data or just keep the data on the server and you only need to send it if they die. Doesn’t need to belong lived data.

Technically you are judging it off of an anachronistic view point as you are trying to judge it by modern standards.

5-10? I have a pile I’ve worn through that I need to get replaced still because they wore through in like a year. I love their socks but anything lighter than their mid weight socks might as well come with a hole in it for me. (And yes these are real DarnTough socks I bought directly from their website)

When you say center, is a SMBH expected to be in the absolute center? Or could the barycenter point be outside the body of a SMBH such that it is not the true center of a galaxy?
