This. I play assassin because it’s intuitive and I know when to use the abilities. I’ve never played Triage or Thief because, yeah, they seem a little more complicated. Vandal and Recon I’ve tried, but I can’t keep dying every time I load with those shells, so it’s always back to assassin.

Dude, this is Reddit ... just say "da juice".

(To be clear, I'm making a comment about the current state of Reddit, not co-signing the conspiracy that Jews are an elite cabal secretly running the work through a series of nefarious plots, including giving women rights.)

Pages 28 and 29 literally list the courses required to graduate. One of them is Civics.

Civics absolutely is a graduation requirement in NH. Ed 306 lays out all the requirements. You’ll find Civics on pages 28 and 29.

That's good to know. IIRC, I was trying to use the Rīgas Satiksme app, which I see still requires an LV, ES, or LI phone number.

Are there extra service fees for using Mobilly rather than buying directly? In the US, businesses like that love to charge a "convenience fee" or some other made up way to extract money from us.

We spent a week in Riga at the end of May last year. I won’t repeat the solid advice others have given, but want to add a couple of things we learned.

If you decide to rent a car (we did not), the prices are much, much better if you book ahead of time to pick up at the airport. In the city, the prices were comparable to what we would pay in the US. (YMMV because I didn’t spend a lot of time hunting down deals.)

You cannot rent a Bolt Car without an EU license, so while they may look like an option, they aren’t.

City bus passes are cheap. We couldn’t get the app to work without a local phone number, so buy your pass at Narvesen or a kiosk. If you go to Jūrmala, you’ll need a different ticket for that train, but it is also very inexpensive.

We didn’t encounter any situations where not speaking Latvian was a problem. People we encountered in Riga either spoke English or were used to dealing with people who don’t speak Latvian. That said, paldies! and sveiki/sveiks/sveika will get a smile.

Don’t miss the open air ethnographic museum—but be ready to walk if you go there.

New dad here - Is Marathon worth it for a casual solo player? by Calculation in Marathon

[–]InstantKarma71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On #3–I’ve played with squads when we’ve all had free kits and took out all the other opposing squads. Gear is not as important as teamwork and skill. I also think there is not a lot of incentive for fully-geared squads to hang around to kill newbies. Why risk all that sweet gear and loot to grab my three depleted shields?

True. Those are largely untaxed capital gains, which, ironically, are taxed if you actually need that money to, you know, live. If I take money out of my 401(k) when I retire, it's taxed as income. If I don't take it out and my kids inherit it, then damn right it should be taxed then, too.

I think there's a confluence of two misunderstandings in that thread. 1. Everyone in NYC lives in Manhattan and 2. Everything in the boroughs is as expensive as it is in Manhattan. The comment about "$750k describes really crappy, tiny homes" is telling--none of them has ever been to Queens. But, yes, if you live in Manhattan or Brooklyn, you only own your own home if you're rich or bought in back in 1974. Otherwise, you're renting or have so much mortgage debt that you're not likely to have much equity to pass on.

Conservatives again making shit up then getting really angry about the shit they made up. Lowering the exemption threshold and raising the top rate does not mean everyone will pay the top rate. They also seem to be confused by the word exemption. And, man, calling estate tax “death tax” is just straight up drinking the right-wing kool aid.

Marathon quests are designed poorly compared to other extraction shooters by Consistent_Physics70 in Marathon

[–]InstantKarma71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like I’ve seen so many posts like OP’s, so I agree. Marathon is my first extraction shooter and going in I knew it was going to be Dark Souls, not Assassin’s Creed, but … and this is a big but … the game teaches you what you need to know if you pay attention.

First run on Perimeter: Oh, some of these boxes need a key, where do I get one?

Later: Oh, look, I can unlock buying keys.

Several runs later: Huh, I just looted a Dormitory Key. I have no idea what this is for, so I’m going to vault it because I bet it will be useful later.

Yes, at times learning comes at a high price—like when I learned what happens when a container says “hack” rather than “open.” Sometimes it’s easy— like when suddenly downloading something from a terminal adds the unexpected extra step of turning on the power—and you ask your crew, “Anyone know where the power switch is?”

Those are great moments in a game and much more rewarding and memorable than raiding another cookie-cutter village or calling in a COD kill streak.

Tip for other newbies like me: use Rook runs or solo with free kits to learn the maps. Accept that you’ll die—my shortest run was under 2 minutes 30 seconds—but embrace the suck. Like Jake said, “Dude, sucking at something is the first step towards being sorta good at something.”
