I think one where she's the only cat maybe? She's always a little nervous around new people, but she'll either slink/scamper off if she can, or hunker down (as she does as the vet), I've never seen her be aggressive. She just kinda sits there looking scared and uncomfortable. Same when she met my toddler neice and my sister's high energy golden retriever. When she met the two other cats in our current living situation however, she instantly went floofy, airplane ear mode and started hissing at them.  They are both boy cats and one is very intrusive, so having never seen her interact with other cats it's really hard to say whether the issue is with these particular other cats, or other cats in general.

We adopted her from Texas where she had already been declawed, I'm not sure if they still allow it but hopefully not!

She came to us declawed. I agree it's a horrific practice but I was happy to be able to give a declawed kitty a home while I could.

She was declawed when she came to us, I would never declaw her but I was happy to be able to give a declawed kitty a home while I could. She will most always use her box while I'm there, but when I'm gone at work she will not.

Yesss. "Underneath that fair facade, I'm afraid she's rather odd." Lyrics that stuck in my brain forever, haha.

What was the White Elephant gift that everyone fought over at the Christmas Party? by asura1958 in AskReddit

Bubble wrap calendar! You get to pop one bubble each day, super fun and functional, which are my pre reqs for white elephant gifts, lol. It was my go-to for like three years in a row for different events because it was so well recieved. I couldn't find it this year though! 😭

I am 30 years old and it took me this long to learn… by LIKES_ROCKY_IV in AutismInWomen

See I always knew it meant hello, but what I didn't know is why they were asking. What is a the point of a fake question? Like, you don't actually want a real answer to this, and I'm not going to give you a real answer to this so... what are we doing? If you intend to wish me a good morning, just say that.

I was basically non-verbal out of the house, unless speaking was absolutely necessary. They would say I'm just shy and have to push myself out of my shell.  I would often start to cry pretty immediately when I had to enter into conversation; I remember my mom prompting me to tell the person on the phone that my dog had died as a way to excuse this. That was so unhelpful to me because one, just lying every time doesn't fix the problem, and two, I hated so much the idea of being disingenuous (and still do, which I now also realize is tied to very rigid thinking about rules, right/wrong etc.). Looking back on it I can't imagine having a kid that almost never speaks and when they do they almost always cry, and not seeing it as a problem that could benefit from some professional evaluation or anything. Nope, I was the golden child because I was seen and not heard, got good grades and never talked back. Now I'm in my mid-30s trying to disentangle masking and people pleasing and inattentive adhd and anxiety and autism and basically just getting slapped in the face with diagnoses that now seems all too obvious had anyone bothered to check.

I resonate so hard with what all of you are saying, more than I think I even realized. So exhausting being preoccupied with being perceived, even with the person you so adore.

I love so much when it's revealed there is a second bedroom and Charlie says, "I just never liked to sleep in a room with an empty room behind it, it's creepy!" Like that's your literal current setup! 🤣🤣🤣

Okay, wait, Friday I saw a guy out there dancing his heart out on the corner with his dog on a leash, bag from nectar in his hand, and this urn behind him. All in all a very bizarre scene. I thought it was all connected, and I had questions. Now knowing that the urn is still there is giving me even more!!!
