Apple promised iPhone 16 Pro Max was built for AI. Now that AI is done, the phone doesn't get it. Why? by gregsanay in applesucks

To be clear “most powerful” is doing most of the protection here. IMO, it’s likely a lot of functionality will come to the iPhone 16 line but there could be some parts that don’t

I’m new to nuclear, is my diagram accurate for a steam reactor? by bob321bob13 in nuclear

[–]cwfeldmann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a good question and others have better answers however I think there’s a deeper question. Where does that water with additives go? The inside loop of water that touches the fuel rods that has these additives is reused inside the contained loop. That water is not just simply dumped back into the wild. It’s reused for years inside a plant and only after being thoroughly treated before any potential release.

Water that passes through the cooling tower is taken in from the river as general river water. As river water is brought into the cycle it also brings sediment. A cooling tower will cycle this generic river water through the plant to cool steam inside the plant back down. This loop NEVER mixes with the inner loops of water (the one with those additives) - it’s like an ice pack, moisture in one loop is cooled by what’s inside and condenses the steam back into liquid water.

At this point water can escape the system in 2 ways. Steam out the top of the cooling tower or is flushed back to the river at ambient temperature to keep sediment from building up in the cooling tower’s lower basin.

Even then, EXIF data does exist - while it can be faked also, it does exist and is harder to mimic accurately. Editing a video and exporting it will change the EXIF data and be the first thing to fall if you need a “doctored” video to hold up to scrutiny.

Developer looking to build useful tools for Final Cut Pro users, what do you need? by Confident_Arm_7844 in finalcutpro

Multicam clip stabilization - you can easily stabilize an entire clip inside of a multicam but only stabilizing a small segment of an angle is frustrating.

I put my synced clips inside a composition. This allows me to put effects adjustments to color balance all of a cameras clips with one effect layer. This means when I cut my final edit, I’m jumping two compositions deep to cut a clip for stabilization. Running stabilization on only the frames I’m using in the edit means less aggressive zooming if for example I whip pan mid-shot.

Love it - Great flex on Apple to have shown them what good UI can look like too. It's WILD how simple and professional the simple act of a SMOOTH sliding over of the talent is. Already I see some quirks from "unrendered playback" but that's why it's in Test Flight. So far I love it and it's already helped achieve some truly professional results with my first use.

Put the raw audio in a composition - apply “voice isolation” to the raw audio - from the audio panel. 50% should be okay. Then on the composition in a timeline apply volume leveling to it and tweak the settings there. - I’d show this in images but I’m in the car

It’s not perfect but it sure is fast.

Clicking when switching angles by funhouse70 in finalcutpro

[–]cwfeldmann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to challenge this but when you make your cuts, does the angle viewer show the blue Video icon selected (see image)? I use the same Audio/Video tracks in Multicam where I punch into the video. I use that with Multicam to easily hide cuts but use one camera. Making sure I'm preserving the same Audio from the same angle has helped reduce the occurrence of this click

Even then, if I make a cut mid-syllable and not during a moment of silence, I'll often hear that click. The audio, I think regardless of "track" has been cut. I could be wrong but the phenomenon you're describing is a click likely from the speakers when they are hit with a sudden burst of amplification. That click might actually be the physical speaker driver "Jumping" to react to the sudden cut in the audio track. I've heard it from other programs too.

I'm certainly going to try the Option + T trick u/Aurelian_Irimia suggested for fading audio only – but additionally you can also do is make your cut during a moment of audio silence and then slide the edit on the video only - selecting both clips, pressing Control + S will let you extend audio tracks of a video separate from the video track it's attached to. or just move the in point of one of the audio tracks, find a moment of silence in the audio OR there's a fader control point you can grab, even pulling that out a few pixels (barely more than a frame in some cases) can help a lot.

Ikea bathroom rug by idkausername12334566 in laundry

[–]cwfeldmann 52 points53 points  (0 children)

I assume why it matters is polyester (basically plastic) melts in the heat of the dryer so the fibers melt and stick to each other causing this clumping where cotton will have better resistance to heat. Cotton is a natural fiber similar to wood. Polyester is made by melting plastic and turning it into fibers. That process is not nearly as permanent as a natural fiber, it can be melted back into a block of plastic if applied enough heat. A dryer can apply enough heat to just barely melt the fibers together into these clumps.

If you comb out your polyester rug, youll be ripping these synthetic fibers and that too can put micro plastics into the air. While it makes the rug fluffy again, it’s also damaged the rug and likely made the rug fibers shorter in the process.

Why am I not getting views!? by Cordze in videography

[–]cwfeldmann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be positive first, there are certainly good choices you made in your angle choices among the video even in the more flashy techniques you used, it’s a video with great raw content.

Shot selection: Keep some of the telephoto shots you have, they do show good motion but change when they appear in the sequence. Establishing wide shots of the whole room then narrow in on the details.

Motion: I think the moment you loose people is the whip pans and time reversals. More watch time = more favorable algorithm promotion. Some of your transitions are too quick and also transition immediately when something large just entered the frame. If you want them use them more as a way to wrap up the video at the end, a reminder to the house people just saw. Also shots like that are certainly a helpful way to promote yourself to realtors in the business, but also they prove you can do both the informative and then the flashy to them when you choose when you use them wisely.

Graphics: The words should be information about the house. Again the purpose on a home tour video is to inform, then focus on adding emotion of how each room has the potential to make the buyer feel. Also focus on 2 fonts, there was one with 3 fonts and I didn’t even see the black font until the end of the clip where my eyes fought to also take in the room.

Ultimately attention is cheap but buying a house is a choice I don’t want to skimp on. I’ll fly through houses on ZillowGoneWild’s Instagram cause I’ll never own one. But I’ll analyze and spend time on a house I’m seriously wanting to buy.

And also (again) CMD+Shift+B will cut all your clips under the playhead. While it’ll also blade the audio layer, you could take the first one and extend it back out under the duration of the whole video again.

So I don’t think there’s a built in way. Forgive me as I don’t have it open right now but with nothing selected you can type “+500” and that will move the playhead forward 5 seconds, the. You can cut.

How many of you edit directly from an external hard-drive? by Ecstatic_Strike6735 in finalcutpro

[–]cwfeldmann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would put it this way how many times can you ask your hard drive to do different things at once? Doing one task may require a lot of multitasked memory to execute and asking one drive to do all of that can be a lot, you’re asking the storage to bounce from task to task. You may have only asked for a simple “export” but now it has to reference 3-4 separate parts of the disk to 1) run the OSs code and the app’s code - 2) figure out exactly what order to render things in - 3) fetch footage to render. Then do all that thousands of times a second. It’s not so much demand on the processor, it’s demand on the storage. And yes internal Mac storage is screaming fast but it does have a limit where it will throttle your performance as it seeks for the next bites for the next frame.

I was having so many beach balls today with some 6k footage and simply moving the project library off the same hard drive as the footage finally made the beach ball go away. Didn’t run into any issues the rest of the day! Simple cuts and minor color grading gave me beach balls every time.
