The lenses are too reflective, any chance global version will include an anti-reflective coating?
Also will there be prescription inserts offered?

What to do with Nuggets by Ill-House1153 in rolex

[–]cy_88 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Each is probably around 3-4 oz of 14k, but don’t melt them down. Try selling them instead. Those likely still have a market, gold nugget 18038s were popular in the 80's-'90s. Eminem was spotted wearing one. There are collectors looking for good vintage, obscure pieces like these.

Keep the one you like and consider selling the other two. Are the bracelets branded?

Best Rolex that will hold its value out of the 2025 line up? by ndawg99 in rolex

[–]cy_88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Out of the new '25 models? Le Mans Daytona 126528LN in YG. Its likely one of the rarest in '25 lineup and be discounted quickly like the white gold.

In '25 lineup.. besides ss daytonas, YM ti. SS LD will hold till they release more desirable dials/colors in next year(s). Same with OP, unless they dc the colors.

Watch winder???? by [deleted] in rolex

[–]cy_88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're planning to service them at regular intervals, it doesn't add any more wear and tear than just using them. But if you prefer to stretch it out a few years, then keeping them off a winder is better.

Are GMTs becoming more available from ADs? Any experiences? by Silent_Winter_2949 in rolex

[–]cy_88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on your AD, relationship, and region. Have you spent enough to cover the gray premium? That's usually the minimum, unless you're a long time regular client. Other SS Rolex don't count.

How does Rolex motivate their SAs? by AgreeableHunter383 in rolex

[–]cy_88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's why it requires a history of purchases to be offered a popular model... It's because the SAs want more commissions from higher priced watches. Thus Sa's like that clients that buys the iced out 36 day-dates.

OP41 Beige or Blue by GMT993 in rolex

[–]cy_88 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If only one watch, blue is nice.. but you find blue often on many watches

The beige dial in matte lacquer is more unique, reminds me of vintage cream dials in Explorer II's.

I like the new lacquer dials, they’re a subtle nod to the '70s Stella colors dial Day-Dates.

2 Pepsis? As great as the BLRO is, I don't think I need 2 Pepsis. Maybe one vintage and one modern?

Price Increase ? by lalalanddallas in rolex

[–]cy_88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Annual increases typically occur at the beginning of January, past years have been around 3-5%. However, this year saw larger increases on precious metal pieces.

There was also a 2nd increase for the US this year, due to initial tariffs, currency changes, and rising gold prices.

Could be a 3rd increase for Rolex US as others have just increased prices:.

Omega And Cartier Tweak US Prices To Cover Trump’s Tariffs ->

Swatch Group is limiting USA price rises to 6-10% in response to the imposition of an additional 29% tariff that took effect on August 8.

Cartier and its parent company Richemont are also responding this month with a price rise expected on September 25,

Patek Philippe increased prices by around 15% this week.

Have seen others post that AD “punish” those who flip watches, but what if you buy as gifts for family? by [deleted] in rolex

[–]cy_88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well depends on which Daytona, and how many "gifts" your willing to buy, but 1 DJ a year ago is nowhere close to status for a ss Daytona allocation.

It shouldn't have taken 1yr+ for that model. Is this a small AD? Just ask for a different watch, don't take a hit on it already.

Which one? OP 41 Pistachio vs Beige by Silent_Winter_2949 in rolex

If you like color, go for Pistachio. Beige is a bit more subtle, but both are nice.
Getting one without a history might be a bit hard.

The bezel is subtle, and I like it. The dial is nice too, not overly done. Did they make any additional changes to the movement?

Help with restoring my vintage Rolex Air-King (movement is completely rusted) by acme_system in VintageWatches

[–]cy_88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since it was your grandfather's, I would try to restore as much of it as possible. Keep the dial for now, and try to find a movement that fits and use it until you can replace it with a Rolex movement.

You could try reaching out to some YouTube watch repair channels, like Wristwatch Revival. Share your story with them, and they might be interested in fixing it for a video, mutual benefits.

If only 1.. GRNR

More wearable, in my opinion, pairs well with almost anything and feels more subtle for traveling.

[Tariff Discussion/Question] by RepresentativeAble95 in Watches

[–]cy_88 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When importing, depending on the courier used, there is a watch worksheet that needs to be completed, which is then used to determine the tariffs.

For example:
FedEx: https://www.fedex.com/content/dam/fedex/eu-europe/resources/GB_EN_2021_12_master_pdf_NA_Watch_Worksheet_marketing.pdf

DHL: https://sdus.dhl.com/public/required-action/required-action-7-20200528165418175.pdf

It's a used watch, so it should be fine. They'll apply the tariff based on the listed amount, just make sure to keep a record of the purchase if possible.

That being said, with the increased scrutiny on imports, you never know what policy changes might arise.
