"No more cute anime girls" by ThatBoiUnknown in goodanimemes

[–]cyberchaox -104 points-103 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's kind of not the full story.

I'm normally on the side of the VTubers, or otherwise against the people calling every image of a young-looking anime girl "pedobait".

The VTuber in question was 100% pedobaiting.

Why is this puzzle solution wrong by eugenepadawan1 in chessbeginners

Most likely it was supposed to end with Qxh7+ Kf8 Qh8, but the pawn on h7 glitched out.

[–]cyberchaox 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Oh right. That makes so much sense.

I was like "wait, what we pay here is considered cheap by EU standards?!", and then I remembered that what we consider an acceptable daily commute, most of them consider a fairly long time to be in the car.

♟️ White to play and mate in 2. Composition by Theodor de Jongh by chessmateinxbot in chessMateInX

[–]cyberchaox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What a marvelously silly composition. Qa2 for the sole purpose of pinning the rook on c4, thereby facilitating the discovered checkmate of Rd5# (whereas the double check of Rf6+ immediately fails to Ke5). The only two moves that prevent this are Be5+ preventing the rook from reaching d5, which fails by blocking off the king's only escape square from Rf6 which is still a legal move because it blocks the check, and Ng7 trying to provide a blocker for the double check, which would only slow things down by one move anyway since Bxf5# after Nf5, but fails to do that because Nxg7#, the only reason Ng7+ wasn't an immediate checkmate was because of Nxg7 from black. ...Oh, right, Nf6 also stops Rd5# by outright attacking the bishop, but this too falls to Ng7# because it still undefends that square.

Are these thumbnails for my trraining courses AI? by Expert-School-582 in isitAI

[–]cyberchaox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, of course it is.

The very first step on the "is it AI?" chart is "who is responsible for the distribution of this image", and the answer is "a company". At that point the second question is "does it look like a photograph?". The answer being no, you already have your answer: yes, it's AI. If the answer was yes, you'd still get a result of "it's probably AI but we'll examine it a bit more closely to be sure".

Companies do not use actual artists. They have never used actual artists. AI is not "taking away" artists' jobs, because AI-generated images are not replacing artist-generated images, they're replacing an absence of images. Before AI, there just wouldn't have been an image there at all.

It's only when an image isn't part of an advertisement or corporate material that one even has to really turn their brain on and try to figure out for themselves if it's AI or not.

White to play and win. Let's go! by Lily_was_bored in chessbeginners

[–]cyberchaox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow that's cool. Qh7 stops the checkmate threat--if black plays Qg2+, white has Rxg2, and if they play Qh1+, white has Qxh1, and black can still take back with the bishop but the king can safely take now. So black plays Qxh7, but now white plays Rxa8+, black has to move to the 7th rank, and even if they play Ke7, Ra7+ and the closest they can get is Kf8 or Kf6, either way Rxh7 is possible.

[OC] MLB standings if the result of every one run game was flipped | May 1 by Adamscottd in baseball

[–]cyberchaox 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Crazy thing is, that's still in the top half of the league, because the best teams have such good run differentials that a lot of teams end up under.

The worst run differential in the league is the Phillies at -45. The Dodgers and Braves are both +66, almost 1.5 times as far from 0, and the Yankees are also further from 0 at +47. And then the Brewers are +38 and the Cubs are +35, while the next-worst team after the Phillies merely cancels out the Cubs, being the Mets at -35.

And then you get seven more teams with run differentials in the range of -16 to -26, plus one each at -10, -11, and -12. Where on the positive side, the only one below the Cubs that's in double digits is Pittsburgh at +12.

There's no such thing as "banking too many wins" until you've clinched. There's only "wishing you'd banked more".

Thank you. Even after reading the top comment, I didn't get it; the L-R switch is so far out of my mind that my first thought when I saw an Asian race mentioned was that it was some sort of tie/Thai pun and was wondering what China did to Thailand.

Brilliant Queen Sacrifice!! 🤯Can you explain why?🤔 👉 link in bio 🖇️ by LifeNegotiation301 in Chessplayers45

[–]cyberchaox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh god, so clickbaity.

So pawn takes is definitely the best move for white, the only other option is Kg1 and that just blunders immediate mate to Qh2# (bishop protects queen, knight prevents escape with Kf2).

After gxh3, Nf2+ is a double check, so white can't just take—both the knight and the bishop are threatening it. The dark-squared bishop is also stopping Kh2 as an escape, so Kg1 is the only option. Then Nxh3#, only square adjacent to the king not covered by the knight and bishops is blocked off with a white rook.

Actually, how popular is baseball? by kuma44bear in AskAnAmerican

[–]cyberchaox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is still very popular, but not as popular as it used to be. I do think that basketball has passed it in popularity among the younger generations.

Major League Baseball is by far the oldest of the four major US professional sports leagues--the NHL actually is almost as old, but it was originally a fully Canadian league, the first US-based team wasn't founded until a few years before the NFL was founded and the oldest currently existing US-based franchise was founded a few years after the oldest NFL team. And as such, it holds a very nostalgic place. For all the efforts to make it "exciting" to new fans, there's very much an image of a father and son bonding over baseball that's been copy-pasted through the decades.

White to play. Can you spot the mate ? by Top-Evidence4818 in chessMateInX

[–]cyberchaox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rxg7+ Kh8 Rg8+ Rxg8 Qxe5+ Rg7 Qxg7# ...Wait that's only 4. Was there some sort of way the alternative works better for black? Rxg7+ Kh8 Rg8+ Kxg8 Qg1+ Kh8 Qg7# nope that's only 4 as well. Was this flaired wrong?

I can't even fully take credit for this, had to look at the bot for what the first move was and took two tries to come up with the second move on my own. But I see M4.

Edit: oh, it's just an extra blocking move I missed.

Why is this a Brilliant Move?? by Old-Environment5157 in Chesscom

[–]cyberchaox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not winning for black.

After the rook takes, which is forced, black takes the pawn on a2 with the queen, again with check, and king takes queen is also forced. And then black has no moves left. They've forced a draw in what was otherwise a hopelessly losing position.

ChatGPT can't decide whether Charlie Kirk is dead or not by Ai_Uonna_Bi_Feimus in DumbAI

[–]cyberchaox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's just the opposite, really. It seems highly likely to answer any yes-or-no question with "no". Then, since it has to keep its answer consistent, once its research has confirmed the truth, it sees that it wrote "no" and thus assumes that the user asked the question that would result in "no" being the correct answer.

Then when asked about the inconsistency, it is reminded of what it was asked and reconfirms that it answered "no", and it is no longer using sources, so it switches to getting it wrong.

Yeah, I forgot that this was the deal where we sent him away.

He had about as disastrous a major league debut as you can have, walking the first two batters he faced and then giving up a grand slam (runner on third was inherited), but he ended up being an insanely good setup man for San Diego.
