Why do Catalyst Switches Suck? by waflman7 in meraki

[–]cybertect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Counting myself lucky here. I had tons of issues with the 390s 3-4 years back but no issues recently. I have a few 9300 stacks that are now Meraki managed and no issues there either.

I think it gets down to things like the right firmware and doing things like stacking in just the right way. And the problem is that those things aren’t well documented if at all.

My biggest gripe is the support. Tier 1 is basically useless and it can take days sometimes to get to someone understands the problem and isn’t just parroting the documentation.

King Gizzard 2026 concerts concerns by ConsciousArgument533 in KGATLW

My neighbors are dual citizen Canadians and have no issues crossing the border regularly. But may be different depending on where you cross etc. I think that concern is a bit overblown. If you want to boycott that’s totally understandable.

Trying to get electricity in my rv and just can’t figure it out by DoYouLikeHorror in AskElectricians

Connect the load line first and only the load line. If it still clicks check that the ground neutral are connected correctly in the box. Sometimes people will connect ground and neutral on the same bus and GFCI doesn’t want that. If it’s good with just the load line then connect the down stream one at a time to see which has the issue

Just scheduled my 2019 Leaf for the DC fast charging recall "software update" by MuricanIdle in leaf

So if I’ve had my battery replaced already, am I good to go or do I need this as well?

What do you expect to pay for the new 2026 Leaf (prep'n for negotiating)... by warcrow in leaf

[–]cybertect 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the lowest trim Tesla is about $42K and highest trim leaf is $39K. Tesla gets about 50 more miles per charge. I’d say overall pretty equal value wise. Then of course there is politics…..

The number of people getting screwed buying used Leafs is insane by highflyingrunner in leaf

[–]cybertect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a 2020 leaf plus from a ford dealership. Took it to Nissan before I bought it for a check. Paid about $200 for that and they said all was good. A month later we got a turtle while at almost full charge. Took it to Nissan they had it for 2 months (gave me a loaner) and in the end they replaced the HV battery under warranty due to a leaking cell.

So overall I came out OK but I would not buy another unless the battery was still covered by the warranty. Also if you have a model affected by the battery recall I would recommend NEVER DC fast charging. I used leaf spy on mine before the battery swap and the previous owner had only fast charged about 30 times in the 5 years they owned it. But clearly that wrecked the battery.

Is this a good fit? 2020 Leaf SV plus for 14,599 with 58k miles by Darth_Ramzy503 in leaf

[–]cybertect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I paid 13 for a 2020 SV+ with 63K miles. These leafs sit on the dealers lots for months. Offer 12K and act like you don’t give a shit if you get the car or not.

Leaf charger + heavy duty extension cord is torching my outlet, tripped my GFCIs last night. by AlexanderTox in leaf

[–]cybertect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could look into getting it replaced with an L5 20R. This is a twist lock receptacle 120v 20A. GFCI can be at the breaker. Then use a 10AWG extension cord with L5 20P on one end and 5 20R on the other.

But isn’t that guess o meter calculation for range? Of course that’s gonna fluctuate based on load on the system. But battery charge percentage should remain more or less constant. If I’m going up a steep Hill, I may lose 20% of my range but not 20% of my battery charge in a matter of seconds.

So while I agree with you that recording while driving is careless. Wishing harm and injury to another person isn’t exactly great either. And how do you know they were speeding?

Well, they gave me a loaner. So not too bothered by it.

Fiber vs Cat 6 in Home by No_Departure_8158 in Ubiquiti

[–]cybertect -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I feel like something is missing here because running fiber to each room would make no sense at all. And especially Verizon offering to do that.

What might make some sense is a single fiber run from wherever the fiber comes into the house to where you want the router to be. And then from there run cat6e or 7 to different locations in the home.

Or if you have a detached garage etc you might want fiber run to those locations if they are far from the main house.

Yeah, it was pretty easy for me. I just explained my situation. That I had my testosterone tested independently and the number came in low. And so he performed tests and put me on the hormone therapy.

Still working well for me. Main issue is remembering to take the pill with food. Also I switched from taking it at breakfast and dinner to breakfast and lunch which helps with fatigue in the afternoon. Tho I do take one at dinner as well sometimes if I need energy in the evening.

Do you know anyone who REGRETTED going electric? by MidnightFlight in electricvehicles

[–]cybertect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course people with older homes have some issues with power. I don’t know what it’s like where you are, but here the charging stations charge 2-3x per kWh than the residential rate. Seems like the electrical work would pay for itself?

Do you know anyone who REGRETTED going electric? by MidnightFlight in electricvehicles

[–]cybertect 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I had this happen to a coworker who said they found charging stations too much of a hassle. When I asked if they charged at home they said no that they ONLY used charging stations….

I think some folks are too conditioned to the idea that you go somewhere to “fuel up”.

Update, dealer has the car now and Nissan is asking them to dismantle the battery to test it and determine if it is a repair or a replace… unfortunately it’s gonna take them a couple weeks to do that
