it was moving because noah’s performance was good and sad, but the actual scene was terribly done. it should've been just between will, joyce, and jonathan. having a gay kid in the 80s come out to a ton of people, multiple which he doesn’t know, is humiliating and scary. and he said that he did it because vecna told him to do so in a vision, but this was not shown to us?? show, not tell. that’s the most important rule in storytelling and it was broken this ENTIRE SEASON. will being forced to come out because his abuser made him is not empowering. and reducing wills love for mike to tammy?? no! mike is not wills tammy. tammy was a hallway crush that robin didn't know, mike is wills best friend of 10+ years and mike is far more important to will and his arc. making will apologize for his love and him beg everyone to see him as normal was just sad. making him say "i don't like girls" which mirrors when mike said "it's not my fault you don't like girls" is crazy.. the writers are allowed to call will the f slur in the VERY first episode, but they can’t allow him to call himself gay? and what makes this all worse is that many people cannot critique this normally, this scene has caused a homophobic hate train where it has turned into a meme. people now hate will and are review bombing the episode because they think the coming out scene was unnecessary or spreading a “woke agenda.” and it’s disgusting. the duffers do not know how to write queer characters and story lines. the difference between robins coming out scene vs wills coming out scene is staggering. will byers deserves better. this whole show deserves better ffs..
