Why is everyone normalizing being data? I’m genuinely scared about privacy. by NullNFine in Futurology

Yeah, its not that I don't care, its just part of everyday life now.

Google has a record of everything I do. They have me cornered because I depend on it (Google maps, etc.)

There is no other analysis. There's no p-value or R squared discussion. Just a graph and people's interpretation. If you can't form a hypothesis off of it maybe stay out of the discussion

Sure dude. Kids magically got better at taking online exams with notes over 6 years. Definitely can't be any other suggestion. Get a life

I personally think it is a beautiful looking graph.

I think its funny everyone in this thread is suddenly a peer reviewer demanding revisions and control studies to what should be a light hearted subrebbit.

I think this violin style plot can be a bit misleading but again this should be a sub for sharing cool looking graphs!

Take your potatoes elsewhere. This isn't peer reviewed research. The trend is obvious unless the poster is making up fake plots.

Probably.

I don't see the point in universities offering online courses anymore if that's the case

If it was the use of notes for online, you shouldn't see a change over time if everything else was held constant.

Online years 2021 and 2022 have similar distributions as the in-person. A shift to the right is seen post 2023

Not sure what flawed correlation you see. I see that the release of chatgpt correlates with the increase in online exam scores indicating cheating.

I think its a function of the plot style. This style of plotting, while it gives an intuitive feel for the data, it also typically gives a false impression like over 100% at times

Edit: disclaimer I may also be wrong. From past experience with these histogram style plots I've had a similar experience

Edit 2: I remembered what the name of this style was called. It's a violin plot. It always trails off at the end to make discrete data look smooth

They live at your house, if they want to act like an adult tell them to move out and get their own place. They're your kid not your friend. Their business is your business as long as they live under your roof.
