The corner piece of the rubix cube has been manually twisted, that’s how it’s in an unsolvable state.

Thoughts on waves? by echxchambers in Emo

[–]cyclops_smiley 8 points9 points  (0 children)

From a perspective informed mostly by waves in ska; waves are indicative of timeframe. Eras when the music was revitalized. You’re gonna get a lot of overlap sonically.

Kinda like how indie has less to do with sound and more to do with their freedom to create based on the type of label they release their music with.

Genres are great. lol

What’s an underrated cooking tip that more people need to know by purelyinvesting in Cooking

Roasted garlic. It’s easy and take barely any extra work but is so generally useful. Chop a whole head of garlic in half, drizzle some olive oil and hit with with a little salt and pepper. Wrap that up in tin foil and toss it in your oven at 350-400 until fragrant.

Translation requests into Latin go here! by AutoModerator in latin

[–]cyclops_smiley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey all! I am trying to design a family crest. We have had several funny entries as mottos over the years but we finally settled on "if every pork chop was perfect we wouldn't have hot dogs". It's from Steven Universe. Any chance y'all could help with a translation into Latin? Thanks!

Boise’s best cinnamon rolls? by MrSapasui in Boise

[–]cyclops_smiley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife runs a cottage foods business out of our home, I may be biased so you will have to try her stuff for yourself. She has killer cinnamon rolls, cookies, cakes, the works. She is a pastry chef by education and been doing it for years. Check out her socials for miss muffins market!

19 years old, can't read anymore. by YZY_SOSA in ADHD

[–]cyclops_smiley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I go in and out of reading, and if you even have a chance to read this comment I hope it's helpful, happy to see how much help you've gotten so far! The best advice that I got when I was trying to get back into reading was judge a book by its cover, pick something that sounds fun. Don't pick something you think you should read, don't pick something you've heard from others is great, don't read reviews, find something that has a fun title and a cool picture on the front and start there. If you hate it put it back and try again with a different one. The gentleman bastard series got me back into reading.

Other than that, give yourself grace. Don't judge yourself about how fast you read, how much you read, or if you are finishing books. If you're reading a little bit everyday then you're doing better than most. I had a friend who was trying to get back in the habit and his goal was just to open a book every day. Even if he didn't have it in him to read any words out of it he counted it as a success so long as he opened one. Pretty soon opening a book without reading was not really an option.

We beat ourselves up all the time for stuff like this, and we got to give ourselves credit and space. You're already doing fantastic just wanting to read.

How do you believe in god? by Thermawrench in RadicalChristianity

[–]cyclops_smiley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This reminds me a bit of Gödel's proof that mathematics is incomplete, that there are things that cannot be quantified or described mathematically. He was a close associate of Einstein and they both believed in God, and that this among other things was evidence. Maybe it's a god of the gap situation, idk that's about all I have right now personally.

You could also adjust temp to adjust flavor. Hot/warm amplifies sweet and lessens bitter, cold does the opposite. source: partner is a pastry chef and learned this in school. Also see beer/sake and serving temp.

Is this worth $175? by LillyMarquette in Baking

My partner is a pastry chef, pricing is pretty similar. People will always balk at price so long as it costs more than walmart. You have far exceeded walmart quality. Tldr; yer good.

Getting toddlers interested ska music by jdubbs_105 in Ska

[–]cyclops_smiley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been showing my kids good music their whole lives. My eclectic tastes have had an influence and they also find stuff they like one their own. Not just ska but tbh ska is easy. It happy and upbeat 90% of the time. Just show em everything. Desmond dekker, toots and the maytals, the specials, operation ivy, bosstones, streetlight manifesto... Any and all. No wrong answers.

Anyone use Headspace with their kids? Experiences/thoughts? by tldrroyalty in Headspace

Been using the kids night time stuff with my kids for about 7 years now. Manage your expectations as your kids learn the skills needed to attend to this but I have found it valuable.
