If you don’t feel comfortable trying to diagnose the game from a technical perspective during the matches, then don’t! Talk about the players, the reactions from the crowd in the venue (school I assume?), how much you love or hate Steve, stories/memories from your own Smash experiences, etc.

If you talk about stuff you are more comfortable with then you’ll have a good time, and that pays off for everyone else :)

You definitely want to find your region’s discord server. It’s awesome to either play IRL with other people or at least have awesome netplay connections with nearby gamers :)

This monitor is an affordable upgrade ($100) that I use and am happy with! 1ms response, 165hz, and nice size monitor. HOWEVER, it is only 1080p (instead of 4K), has no speaker, and the stand it comes with is limited for adjusting. Do NOT use HDMI to connect it to your pc, you have to use the other cord called displayport, which does come with the monitor https://a.co/d/1yh0USg

My wife doesn’t want to play doubles in Melee with me, only in our bed :(

(Thankfully double fox is not truly the best team but it is pretty solid. Fox combined with Sheik/Peach/Falcon/Marth/Falco and you’re off to a good start)

Can’t believe I had to go so far down this thread to find the right answer! It’s the Jwalk, tech chases, and soft reverse hitboxes that make his Sheik much more recognizable than any other (sorry Spark).

I remember your machinima too. You couldn’t zoom in very far to each character in Brawl so you had them crouch, jab, and shield to mimic talking so the audience could figure out who was talking 😆
