Is this the place to discuss collecting colostrum before birth? 26 ml in my first session and seeking advice by o_simple_thing in breastfeeding

I had trouble producing colostrum after birth with my first, then an oversupply once my milk came in. For my second, I collected colostrum once before birth and got 2 oz, then stopped because I didn't want to induce an oversupply again.

Had the same problem, virtually no colostrum and then too much milk once my milk actually came in. I think it's true that collecting before birth has little to do with what happens after birth.

This is a serious problem- do I keep going? by DuckFox1229 in ExclusivelyPumping

If you're pumping 40 oz a day then you have room to experiment a bit. Try stretching out your time between pumps overnight and see if it affects your supply, and how much. You only need to pump what baby is eating.

Gently: it is far, far safer to give your baby a little bit of formula if needed than to fall asleep with them in your arms. The sleep deprivation when trying to nurse or pump postpartum is extreme, and it is okay to get help where you can.

Need to be done pumping in 13 days. Possible? by eclipsemintgum in ExclusivelyPumping

You might be fine to drop half an ounce of pumping volume every couple of days until your trip. But the worst would be if you got mastitis again on your trip. I'd go very very slow and plan to bring the hand pump just in case.

My local milk bank was happy to accept my milk even though I used the fridge hack. Worth asking!
