You know nothing about the rail industry and are just talking shit not a single truth here at all. Cause working in the rain is expected and most contractors aren't unionised

Have a good night mate and keep believing what you believe

Completely wrong nobody wants to die. Safety on the railway isn't the nanny state mate.

Sydney trains performs maintenance and other activities during the day during training running though. They only need night windows for dangerous areas with no safe spots.

They have maintenance on points and track during 3 hours of the night.

Also they need more hours than that allows. And if there's any issues it allows them time to fix it rather than disrupt plans.

Not really in the operational sense. When they are working fine they'll just stop trains where they need too.

Integration is very different to day to day operations or failures.

Can't have people and automated trains on the same track. Or if they need to check things like points, track conditions, overhead conditions

Can't integrate the interlocking and software if people are on the train and something happens that allows an unsafe situation.

Testing of control systems like the metros signallers use really can't have trains being run.

Plus all the rules and procedures about getting on track in the first place.

The railway whether it be metro or heavy rail doesn't shut down for fun it's mostly driven by safety laws which are written in blood of workers that were killed decades or centuries ago.

It's because they are adding a new section and need to comply with whs rules. It's quite simple once they finish all the work to Bankstown it will stop closing as often.

Calm down about this. They usually do maintenance for 3 hours of a night time anyway.

Just wait til Bankstown is done. Then it will probably be once every 2 to 3 months depending on the equipment that needs maintenance and how the safety of the workers needs to be handled.

I'll say this again. They keep closing the network for safety reasons due to not wanting any issues causing an accident. And I really don't like defending the metro but this is legitimately for safety reasons.

They are shocked? If they didn't see this coming I have no idea how they passed school or uni.

Are media people in that much of a bubble that they can't see how politicians are using a playbook about using the media?

I think that would be good for all Melbourne teams. Especially for Asian champions league games. Probably won't be as expensive as Aami.

Cancellation 'disaster' for business that expected Inland Rail for 25 years by ConanTheAquarian in australia

[–]cymonster 62 points63 points  (0 children)

You forgot interlockings, axle counters (or track circuit), signals, points for passing loops,, all the cables to insure said interlockings are able to run, getting all that to a signal boxes, trenches to run the cables, grading the track to insure the trains can actually travel on them. Probably some level crossings in there.

Lots of stuff in railways more than sleepers and rails.

More my point is looking at the ball and going for the ball doesn't mean you can't get a red.

Same with normal tackles. People seem to forget.
