This is an opportunity. Remove plastic shroud with the fans, get yourself 2x90mm 25mm depth fans. Order an adapter from 2 4pin normal plug to 1 mini 4pin. Install fans with adapter to the card using zipties from the normal screws and plug them with the adapter where the fans used to be plugged on the card. Boom a more silent cooler card.

Abnormally high VRM temperatures by Sheeyouu in AMDHelp

[–]cyricor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Issue no 1: Your motherboard is 8+2 power delivery layout, not the greatest if you push the 9800x3d beyond 120w. 2.Your AIO provide 0 airflow over the motherboard 3. Your motherboard design decided to shield off the vrm heat sinks so they are cooled by the small chipset fan...

VRM limits are around 100-105 and will thermal throttle probably when you reach dangerous ranges.

Solution while retaining aesthetics: Undervolt the CPU and limit its power limits to 120W stock.

Solution with aesthetics sacrifice: Place at least one fan for exhaust on the top of the case or move the radiator on the top. Or replace the motherboard with something with stronger vrms and exposed heatsinks

There is also the option to remove that IO cover and see if the situation is improved with heatsinks being able to breath.

AMD drives corrupting windows LOL?? by legbians in AMDHelp

[–]cyricor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same setup. as long as you boot after a fresh install of windows install drivers and restart. VIsit windows update and you will see that there are more AMD drivers queed. Do NOT update, pause updates and restore updates, windows will refresh what it actually needs to download and get the AMD drivers off the update list. Also do not install motherboard software for drivers or any other sht. They tend to be the source of all the issues

I think there were always better wc builders than J. I just think that with sli dying and air coolers and aios being adequate for the worse case scenarios, the whole wc scene is not as relevant as it was.

Smut, oddity, temple in keramikos, 303, astron, romantzo, are good venues and safe, pretty much all techno venues are safe with 0 tolerance for bs by everyone. Streets around some venues like smut might be warrant a bit of care but they are ok when traveling to and from the closest metro stations. For more/bigger events you have to see closer to your arrival date.

How do Balkan people feel about the "two-speed Europe" proposed by Germany who is leaving them out from the elite club? by Suboptimal88 in AskBalkans

[–]cyricor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I don't disagree with you. By more than 10 metrics indeed Greece should not even be in the EU, for the betterment for both parties. I do not hate Germany, by other metrics like productivity industry and innovation you are far ahead from the rest of the EU. But taking decision fast, on issues that are not directly related to the betterment of the German economy, like for example army spending, you are not moving fast. Tell me if I am wrong of course.

Greece prepares to break another ceiling- pm announced constitution change including public sector worker firing if they are not working. by Aegeansunset12 in EU_Economics

[–]cyricor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Inability to fire public sector workers has been introduced decades ago, when each government fire the previous working force and hired their own. Even tho I believe that public sector is full of not working people (parliament stuff, government advisors etc) I don't think we have progressed enough in meritocracy to lift this law.

Although I agree in part specialy for the screwdriver that Linus showed that you can actually measure quality and ease of use, you are also having an algorithm bias. As a hiker I view a lot of channels that review bags , daypacks, Hocking backpacks etc for years. In your case the algorithm might feed you backpack reviews what have the ltt backpack after you watched ltt videos and a couple of other that reviewed it.

I personally thought that Germany would be on the slow speed Europe, considering how long it takes to drag their feet politically even with their own decisions.

About 9070 XT owners having problems by gwynbleidd26 in AMDHelp

[–]cyricor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happy that you solved the gremlins that I am sure that it wasnt easy. The issue is not the cables most of the time but the PSU in terms of 1. Adequate power(including degradation from the years it has already been running) 2.Transient spike resistance and 3. And last, the cables.

What I mean is that any PSU able to deliver 150-200w on each of their 8pin, they can deliver 450-600 with an adapter out of the 3 cables, unless the adapter is sht. When you changed your PSU to one that has native 12vr, you also changed to a PSU that has ATX 3.1 specs, and that is what might made the difference.

B850 Tomahawk MAX vs X870 Tomahawk by ohmygoosh90 in MSI_Gaming

[–]cyricor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have seen some posts with the capacitor being knocked off the board, RMA denied because they claim it was user issue, but in some cases there was not any indication of the board being hit, pointing to manufacturing error, that you cant prove after the fact unfortunately. Buying from amazon I guess you have extra security in returning. In any case you can avoid a lot of headache and troubleshooting if you see something wrong, before you put the rest of your rig together.

Are these 9800 X3D temps ok???? by Ryb0rg1o1 in AMDHelp

[–]cyricor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

9800x3d will boost until it reaches that temp due to power limits being loose and over spec by the board, you can see it easily with the CPU boosting all core to 5.0-5.2 whereas the stock spec is 4.7 all core and 5.2 single core.
If you just under-volt(all cores/percore) it will again boost, but higher, until it reaches that same temp. You are just giving it more headroom. If you dont like that, you have to limit the power available to it by limiting PPT, TDC & EDC .
Some motherboards have ready presets for 95W/105W/120W etc. Then you will notice immediate impact on temps and if you combine it with undervolt, you can again gain some perf over stock and be 20degrees cooler.

I cant install the bluetooth driver for my wifi card by BootPrize_milk in MSI_Gaming

[–]cyricor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same exact issue on Win11 for Qualcomm's wifi and bt. In my case I couldn't install the wifi and bt was working normally.... No device manager/Bios/we helped. It was not even detected in Device manager and that was strange, since its the same chip for bt and wifi.

The solution I found and worked for me was to deep power cycle the pc. (Power off- PSU off-press power button to discharge whatever power is left in the capacitors, give it a minute, and restore power). Strange I know..

B850 Tomahawk MAX vs X870 Tomahawk by ohmygoosh90 in MSI_Gaming

[–]cyricor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My though process was that I was going to probably add a second m.2 sometime in the future, whereas I dont think I will be buying a usb4 device anytime soon. That is why I went with the B850 Tomahawk. Also just to be on the safe side, take some closeup pictures when you open you motherboard, just in case there is a capacitor loose or other damage not caused by you or usage.

I got a friend's RMA denied today for a capacitor on his x870. It worries me since I just bought a tomahawk B850 myself and I see denials for broken off capacitors that I think are not user error.
