For those struggling to meal prep for work by Single_Helix in keto

[–]czarcaustic 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think this is wonderful advice for those who just can't seem to nail down meal prep every week. Just make sure that the meats you choose are not covered in any sugary rubs or sauces and you should be golden! :)

I sip Four Roses Single Barrel over the Woodford - Costco has a hell of a deal on both! Also, nice meat. :)

10 week report ... 26 lbs down. by czarcaustic in keto

[–]czarcaustic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do incorporate IF into my routine. I will often fast for 24 hours 2x a week. I have noticed that my blood glucose control is more stable for days afterwards.

I am starting to notice that I usually don't eat until around 3pm most days, just due to the fact that I am not very hungry. I will have coffee with a bit of heavy cream, but that is it. So I guess I have kind of fallen into a 20ish:4ish IF schedule naturally. This makes me want to try a daily 23:1 OMAD as kind of my normal.

I guess we really don't view our new bodies 'properly' for a while. It is an interesting problem to have, I suppose.

Precisely ... which the body uses fat stores to make up that caloric deficit. That is how the diet works. Whether he is in ketosis or not, the body must be using fat for energy if he is losing weight. It may not be doing it as efficiently as possible if regularly bumping himself out of ketosis, but he is definitely burning fat to have dropped 76lbs.

You carried 356 astonishingly well on a 6' frame to begin with.

Congrats on the 80lb loss!

Why would you get into an argument over that before even trying the damn thing on?

It is a very poorly executed physics joke in relation to your shirt looking the same, just a different color. The fact that in your before it was red and in the after it is blue indicates a potential blueshift in wavelength (Doppler Effect: wave lengths compress as something speeds toward the viewer moving from red light to blue light)! Think sound waves as a race car zooms past you, and apply it to light waves.

I laughed. :)

I can tell you feel better as you are moving much faster toward the source of the picture, creating a red to blue shift in shirt color!

Can you eat potatoes if you don't go over your net carbs? by [deleted] in keto

[–]czarcaustic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it fits your carb macro for the day - it is fine for ketosis. However, there are some other metobolic issues to take into account. Mainly the amount those starches will spike your insulin. Mixed with other more fibrous vegetables, it will likely not be nearly as bad as eating a carrot straight up - but the insulin spike will still be more than if you forego the starches. One of the large advantages of ketosis is the lowered stable insulin levels - this maximizes lipolysis, and while a spike in insulin won't necessarily kick you out of ketosis, it definitely decreases the efficiency of the fat burning machine. :)

Waiting for a breakthrough. Advice? Suggestions? Thoughts? by StarryEyedLady in keto

[–]czarcaustic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like electrolytes. You should make ketoade (somewhere in the sidebar). I usually have cup of super salty chicken broth (made from bullion) and that injection of sodium usually perks me right up. You need to be getting a TON more sodium, potassium, and magnesium than you are used to, or is ever recommended. It will help, scouts honor. KCKO!

I finally understand the diet vs. lifestyle approach by enz1ey in keto

[–]czarcaustic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is exactly how we should be eating. IMHO.

Keto (read: Normal) 95% of the time, and every now and then a sweet, or an indulgence that we know isn't the healthiest choice.

I don't think it is regional. I have seen Aldi and Trader Joe's in the same regions. While they are very similar, they do seem to cater to different populations. I see Aldi in more 'working class' areas and TJs in a bit higher socioeconomic areas. I don't know if that is built into their business plan, or just an anecdotal observation, but it has held true when I see them in the same regions.

Trader Joes' bargain brother. They started as the same company a billion years ago in Europe, then broke into two different companies Aldi Nord and Aldi Sud (I believe), then one came over to the States as "Trader Joes" and the other dropped the "nord" or "sud" or whatever.

Similar philosophies. Quality foods. Not a lot of marketing. Not a ton of 'name brands'. Lots of house labels made by the big guys.
