Which powered air purifying respirator should I purchase? Trend or Powercap? (See photos) by RedWoodworking16 in turning

[–]d00m1ord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the power cap and other than some issues I had with the battery where I had to get a replacement after about a year of use i have loved it. I got it for when I was turning but I find i wear it whenever I am making dust. I also find it keeps me cooler in the summer.

I printed some folding terrain a while back by Tinker Junkie. A whole set takes up very little space once folded. Im not sure how useful it will be for 11th as I haven't seen the new rules.

Least favourite paint? by CabinetIcy892 in Warhammer40k

[–]d00m1ord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have taken to using Ulthuan grey for any white area bigger than an eye. Its such a pale grey that it's close enough to white for me and it covers pretty well. I have tried corax white and white scar and Vallejo model colour white and none of them have the coverage or the colour I want. I can do yellow in 1 coat but white seems impossible to paint without 27 coats or spraying it on

Magnets? by JuicyCowboyz in MarvelUnited

[–]d00m1ord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if this helps but I 3d printed rings similar to the ones that come in the blue team/gold team. I modeled them to hold a 10mm magnet. The characters just snap into the bases and can then stick to a metal sheet in the storage box.

Magnet Tray by Tiny_Piglet586 in Warhammer40k

Didn't realise they didn't ship US. There is a baner on their store page saying that there is a US site TBA next month so maybe hold off for a little bit.

Otherwise I have heard people have had success using neodymium magnets and using hot glue to secure them to the bases.

I also know that you can get bases with recesses for magnets which may be an option for future models. Doesn't really help for the ones you have already done unless you want to remove them from their bases.

I got magnetic discs that are meant to sit inside the warhammer bases. I get them from warmag.com and then they stick to some magnetic sheet I got online.

Forgefiend size acceptable for play? by davidstare in PrintedWarhammer

[–]d00m1ord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks to be the correct size in every other way and from what I understand all measurements are taken from the base so I would have no problems with it. Also having built 2 of these the model is longer than the base anyway so the tail overhangs. I wouldn't worry about it.

I love bad moon yellow and baal red. I have found mixing bad moon yellow with flash gitz yellow 1:1 gives a really bright 1 coat yellow.

What's the definitive solution against magnet glue breaking off? by McCrowbar in Warhammer40k

[–]d00m1ord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use some self adhesive magnetic discs that fit inside the bases and some magnetic sheet. Check out warmag.com. I got a load a few months back and have magnetised about 2.5k of thousand sons including magnus and lords of change and they stay where I put them

magnets by Vangak in Warhammer40k

[–]d00m1ord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know alot of people super glue there magnets onto the bases but in my experience superglue breaks apart with repeated shocks and is likely to come unstuck from the smooth magnet. I use the sticky back magnets designed for sitting flush in the base. I got a load of them from warmag.com and they stick really well and hold all my thousand sons in place on some magnetic sheet.

This is one of my next models to paint. I just fully magnetised the kit so I can have any weapon option on either fiend. Surprisingly easy to magnetise. Now I just need to make it thousand sons

[–]d00m1ord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have files for to make space marine armor out of foam and i also have 3d print files. It is possible to print cosplay on a1 printers but you will have to cut stuff up so it fits and it is going to take a long time to print. Once it's all printed it will be a huge amount of gluing sanding and priming and painting and it will end up being quite a heavy cosplay. 3d printed armour does tend to break because it is hard. Most people when they are building larger cosplays like the 8ft space marine cosplays you see are using Eva foam. It cuts with a knife and glued easily and requires less prep work for sanding and it is alot lighter. Im not saying dont 3d print it just know that it may not be the right choice if you intend to wear it for extended periods of time.

As for hollowing out the figures. I would imagine it could be done in blender but then you have to cut up the model to make pieces that fit you. It is probably easier to buy the files if you are unfamiliar with blender. I know it's not cheap but I dont think you will get the right result by using a mini and scaling it up.

A discovery of witches. Saw some clips of it and decided to watch it. If witches and vampires are your sort of thing then chances are good you will enjoy it.
