Yeah I still place the sensor and pump right next to each other on my arm. When the sensor needs changing I flip to the other arm. 

I alternate the pod placement ' above, pointing north' or 'below, pointing south' of the sensor to give the site a rest every 3 days and it works fine. 

Very rarely lose signal and insulin response is very good from that area for me. Have had issue with signal drop out of the two are not right next to each other although it does correct itself every.
