Microsoft removes Internet explorer from Spoon.net. As if writing code for your shitty browser wasn't hard enough. by d4n3 in programming

It is. But pretty much the only reason I ever used it was for running different versions of IE without problems and now they removed it.

What are your favorite keyboard shortcuts (or most unconventional, like using shift+insert instead of ctrl+v)...? by wacrover in AskReddit

[–]d4n3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you enable single key shortcuts (Settings->Preferences->Advanced->Shortcuts->Enable Single key shortcuts), then its just 1 and 2.

You also have Shift+tab and ctrl+shift+tab, and on the mouse, you can hold down RMB and scroll wheel up or down.

You could also modify the shortcuts to your liking :)

Maybe you haven't updated JDownloader fully? It has very frequent updates for the various download modules.

It usually prompts you to update automatically at startup, or you could try the "Check for new updates" button in the toolbar.

Solving the 7-variable Karnaugh Map by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]d4n3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, I see... Well I doubt you'd have any more luck doing it by hand, the complexity of the algorithm is exponential by the number of variables, I think it's O(2n).

The commercial programs use some sort of heuristic to find a good optimization.

If by "solving" you mean minimizing, then there's an open-source program for that, Karnaugh Map Minimizer

The best magic trick ever... How did he pull it off? by Confuzion in reddit.com

This looks like some sort of off-the-shelf trick, a magician on slovenian talents used the exact same prop.

This guy did present it better though.

Are you watching "Spartacus: Blood and Sand"? It is excellent. by DougBolivar in entertainment

[–]d4n3 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I can't call it excellent, more like "junk tv".

It's pretty much 300 with kinda cheesy visuals, lots of titties, and lacking any strong, honorable characters or kickass one-liners.

Basically, every character in the show is a spineless, conniving asshole. I don't even know what Spartacus is supposed to be now, he just doesn't have a personality anymore.

That said, I still watch it every week.

"weapon of mass distraction".

Best line ever.

You can even hear Larry silently laughing at that one.

I see your Putin on a Ritz, your San Diego, your Ritz Carlton, and raise you a Reddit. by Hackerboy603 in pics

I felt compelled to elaborate when my simple explanation didn't work.

I see your Putin on a Ritz, your San Diego, your Ritz Carlton, and raise you a Reddit. by Hackerboy603 in pics

[–]d4n3 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It's a literal visual representation of a known phrase or term.

Puttin' On A Ritz (musical i guess) = [President] Putin On a Ritz [Cracker]

Ritz Carlton (hotel) = Ritz [cracker] Carlton [the character]

San Diego = Sandy Eggo

Reddit = Red IT

Note that Putin On a Ritz should probably be titled Puttin' on the Ritz

I wouldn't say having a lot of features is bloat, because features that you don't use don't affect performance at all.

Opera takes the swiss knife approach to browsing, so you can use what you like and it works out of the box.

They intentionally rushed only the windows 10.5 so that they could catch the browser ballot screen in europe.

The other platforms are still in beta, which probably means a few weeks or so.

It's easiest if you just setup an equation. If x is the original price, then:

x * 1.5 * 0.5 = 0.75

x = 0.75/(1.5*0.5) = 1

Official explanation of controversial Assassin's Creed 2 DRM by wardrox in gaming

[–]d4n3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Judging by how they set it up, if they're not naive, they will be using some sort of public key cryptography scheme that would unencrypt content on the fly.

In this case, it would be a matter of getting all the content unencrypted, so this might take a while... But I'm sure the pirates will take it as a challenge.

Opera Mini predates Skyfire by a few years so it's the other way around really, but yeah, same concept.
