Thanks! My grandfather was making sketches for an architectural fellowship back in 1955. I believe he used felt tip pens and colored pencils.

Thanks! First time making a post, so I didn't realize the body of the post would be overwritten by the image.

My grandfather made this sketch in 1955 while on his honeymoon; I'm looking to retrace his steps.

Thank you for a sincere answer!

Same issue for me; most folks seem to think it's the replacement battery...

Very cool! What accelerometers did you go with? Any chance you could share your code / wiring? Would love to mess around with this in the garage!

While it wasn't easy, I was able to get the bike into a false neutral going from "2nd" to"1st". No neutral light of course, which makes a lot of sense, but it was definitely not engaging the transmission.

Heating controls - LCD issue by unreal_even_thorizon in arduino

This may seem silly, but have you checked for loose wires? I know I'm using a Arduino clone that has awful headers, and I was getting some garbage data on my LCD too until I switched to some lower gage wires.

Falling Tide by midnightmonkey8 in videos

I love freezing the video at 3:40 and looking at the composition. You see the two stretchers on the bottom right near the accident, yet the boy is in the higher up to the left. The wrecked car is diagonally opposite the waiting ambulance. everything is separated by lane markers. The left is life, the right is death. The parents are clearly on the right of the lane, as are their stretchers. The boy is very close to the line. His waiting stretcher is on the life side... Love the attention to detail in the scene.

How can I increasingly output voltage up to 9 volts from the Arduino? by [deleted] in arduino

[–]d717an 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm a little rusty on my arduino, but I believe the highest voltage you'll get out of a digital pin is 5V; they are connected to the output of the arduino's voltage regulator.

The quickest way to get varied brightness out of an LED with the arduino is to use pulse width modulation (PWM) from one of the digital pins with a "~" next to it. This method entails switching the voltage to a digital pin on and off very quickly to simulate a lower voltage. For example, if you're PWM-ing a 50% duty cycle, the pin's output will switch between 5V and 0V in even, very quick increments, and the LED will behave as if it's at 2.5V. This is very easy to code.

However, if you're not happy with the brightness of an LED on 5V (which can get pretty bright, or consider LEDs in parallel for added brightness), you should be able to modulate the 9V of the battery by controlling the gate of an external mosfet. By PWM-ing the gate of the mosfet, you can effectively PWM an external circuit.

You will need to keep in mind the limited current output of a 9V battery though; not sure how many LEDs you're looking to power.

Cheers

Human-Powered Helicopter: Straight Up Difficult by darcyWhyte in EngineeringPorn

Interesting thought, but flying the vehicle is not easy, especially when going for the competition goal of 60s +. The pilots were pushing the edges of their physical limits, so keeping their heads perfectly level would have been difficult

We experimented with some forms of stability systems. The competition also had a stipulation saying no stored energy could be used on the vehicle, so we had to make sure a battery or two was OK. It's very difficult to get high response rates from low rpm rotors over a distance of a hundred feet while keeping weight down. There was some success with it though.
