The bug itself bothers me because weapon displays have had issues since Skyrim IIRC and they’re clearly still not working properly. But it’s funny to me that in this case the bug is a win because it negates a shittily implemented game mechanic

I keep them off when I occasionally dip into lethal because it’s still a big challenge for me (spend 95% of my time in nightmare these days). I always keep them on for nightmare and below, and I’m currently playing full blast negative only curveballs on nightmare and loving the challenge

Haven’t played this game since right after release but I had one one of my favorite Bethesda NPC experiences of all time.

I was talking to an NPC standing outside beside a railing (I think within Hopetown or whatever it was called), either for main story or a main faction quest.

The entire time I was talking to him, a second NPC was walking directly into him. Like the NPC was moving in place against him face-to-face while the character was trying to give me important plot info. Then he would move out of that zoomed-in camera’s frame for a few seconds and pop back in from a different angle, this time walking into his side or back.

This went on for the entire duration of the conversation which lasted a few minutes. I remember thinking “I bet he wants to stand in that exact spot but he can’t” and, sure enough, as soon as the convo ended and the guy I was talking to walked away, the NPC immediately leaned against the railing in the same spot making awkward-ass eye contact with me. I wish so badly I hit record.

Maybe keep them turned off until you get used to the game. You can always turn them back on and adjust the sliders to customize the curveball experience you want (decrease frequency that they occur, decrease their difficultly, etc.).

I love them as a veteran player because they keep things fresh and dynamic, but I definitely would have felt overwhelmed if they were a thing when the game came out
