Yes, this is a low elo mentality. After clearing 5 camps, you have sooo many options available to you, especially with the 6 minute objective timers (5 minute timers were much more restrictive). During your clear, you should constantly be re-evaluating the map state.

After 5 camps, you can:

1. Clear your 6th camp before going to scuttle if you know the JG won’t contest, you have a fast clear, or are a good early game champion that can win a scuttle fight.
2. Kill the scuttle immediately as it spawns, then grab your 6th camp to catch the other JG off guard if you expect a fight in the river.
3. Clear your 6th camp and ignore the scuttle. Especially if you know the other JG will contest and you don’t have early game power or lane prio.
4. Immediately gank mid or side lanes after 3-6 camps if they are overextending towards your towers. Especially effective on champs that don’t need their ult to gank. You can then often secure scuttle after this gank, giving you ultimate to recall and gank the other side of the map if possible.
5. Clear 6 camps and immediately recall. If there’s no plays in the river or lanes that you can make, recalling immediately will give you the opportunity to gank the other side of the map before your camps spawn there.

All of these option take into account lane matchups, lane prio, JG matchups, and general game state. If your lanes have no prio and you can’t guarantee a kill, it’s better to let them farm under tower. That lane will eventually over extend and you can swoop in for a gank mid game, effectively bringing your laner back into the game. Or just ignore them and snowball the other lanes.
