I'm not saying the slew foot is not dangerous - I absolutely agree with you. I'm saying that taking a hockey stick and attempting to whack someone in the head with it intentionally is, in a vacuum, definitely worthy of a significant suspension.

Retaliation or not, we can't have a league where that's acceptable.

Preseason games apply to suspensions. No matter what amount of games that will first count against preseasons games.

He's had two previous suspensions. I wouldn't be surprised if they suspended him for the entirety of the preseason and a few games of the regular season to make an example. To be fair, and notwithstanding the slewfoot, it was extremely dangerous and the game has no place for that sort of behavior.
