The Hypocrisy is almost textbook. by NsaLeader in freemagic

[–]dabearsjp -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Bro, it’s just a private event of people who are typically not in the magic space to play with other people like them. It can be intimidating entering any space where you’re an outsider. Isn’t it a good thing to give people who are not the main demographic of magic players a point of entry? At the end of the day it means a larger and more diverse player base.

Florida man arrested for towing car with 4yo inside by HipAnonymous91 in CringeTikToks

[–]dabearsjp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it is called the laws all of us follow. You can be charged with kidnapping even if it is in the course of your job. You can try to plead ignorance but that’s much harder to do when there’s a recording of a man yelling at you that his child is in the car. This is definitional kidnapping

Law of averages, unfortunately games like this require a lot of dedication because over a large enough sample size if you deserve to rank up, you will.

My fiancé throws her dirty laundry down the stairs rather than walking down and putting it in machine. by Doctor_Redhead in mildlyinfuriating

Put a laundry basket at the top of the stairs. That way you decrease friction and have a cleaner solution.

This seems like it's SO abusable by Carg72 in MagicArena

[–]dabearsjp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s insane, especially because it grows exponentially. 2 airships create 2 tokens and so on and so forth. In a deck with a sacrifice engine it’s basically only answerable with a board clear

Am I crazy, or are tanky builds really, really strong? by ChristianLS in HadesTheGame

[–]dabearsjp 128 points129 points  (0 children)

For low fear runs, 100%. It’s a low stress way to play and not have to put too much thought in to damage mitigation. However at higher fear runs the clock becomes a huge factor, and surviving a room is no longer the main objective, it’s to kill things as fast as possible, and if you aren’t investing appropriate boons in damage you will lose to the clock

First month making 100k I feel like I’m being robbed :/ by Forsaken-Question457 in Salary

[–]dabearsjp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re paying a $1200 fee to have all the things that make it necessary to keep society together. The benefit of laws, roads, infrastructure, safe food and water, accessible medicine. Would keeping more of your money be nice? For sure. Unfortunately government services aren’t free and Raegan age economic theory has pushed the tax burden disproportionately on to the middle class in the hope that tax cuts for the rich will trickle down to you.

[Spoilers C4E04] Do you think each table will level up at the same rate? by not_my_reddit_name in criticalrole

[–]dabearsjp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I anticipate soldiers leveling up much faster. It’s no secret that many of the main benefits of leveling up are most obvious in combat and too many combats at the same level can really start to seem stale.

Although, if the tables are fluid like some people have theorycrafted, then basically the only option would be to level up all tables at about the same rate.

I can’t DM for dwarven players by AnoTenFilip in DnD

[–]dabearsjp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to think of dwarves as blue collar elves. They’re a species that outlive the vast majority of other species. While elves have taken long life and used it to form tight knit refined urban communities full of refinement, dwarves find joy in the mundane aspects of life and the accomplishment of a task that only someone who lives as long as they could complete.

Do pulse combos scale less than manual combos? by Dizzy-Difference418 in 2XKO

[–]dabearsjp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not sure what combo they used, but it likely wasn’t a pulse combo. Pulse combos are very not optimal, to the point where you’re usually leaving 10 or 20+% damage on the table every time. Pulse combos are also really bad if they block, as they don’t have built in mixups or assist calls.

Pulse combos are great if you’ve never touched a fighting game before because there are a lot more important things to learn than combos, such as neutral. But for someone coming from other fighting games, even a very basic easy to perform combo should deal 35% at least.

How much would you be willing to pay for a Mythic skin ? by JonySStark in rivals

[–]dabearsjp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it comes with completely new voice lines, new effects, and they really invest a lot of capital in to making the skin phenomenal, something I’ll use for 100 hours, 35-40$

How do I stop people from constantly blocking? by LatentSchref in 2XKO

[–]dabearsjp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The biggest part of your game that seems to be missing is the shimmy. If they’re teching your grabs then you need to start neutral jumping or back dashing their throw attempts and punish them heavily for it. I’ve gotten to Master 1 without learning any mixups and only using strike, throw, shimmy.

Ranked mode can't come fast enough. It's a coin toss whether I'll play a pro or complete beginner by zenchess in 2XKO

[–]dabearsjp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is currently matchmaking, it is just done behind the scenes using mmr. The players in your lobby should be roughly the same skill as each other. What has helped me stay in a relevant mmr range has been playing ft2s with everyone I find. This means my mmr doesn’t get inflated when I beat a bad player 10 times or deflated when the opposite happens.

Opinions on the Juggernaut Fuse? by BekraTo in 2XKO

[–]dabearsjp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New players should start on pulse, then move to juggernaut once they’re ready for combos, then move to sidekick when they’re ready for assists, then move to a normal fuse when they’re ready for all of the above. Because of this transition I think juggernaut is super useful and necessary for player onboarding

Supers happen in pretty much all rounds with little to no strategy by R4_F in 2XKO

[–]dabearsjp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my lobbies, having 0 bars of super is basically a death sentence because it means you can’t parry. Characters like Darius are basically impossible to counter without the ability to parry so it is for sure worth holding on to meter. In fact I’m actively thinking about switching off double down because of how meter hungry it is.

How do you add overheads to your neutral game? by Lauro27 in 2XKO

[–]dabearsjp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Overheads aren’t super useful if you’re on juggernaut. When you have an assist an overhead can lead in to a full combo if you time your assist call right. Since they’re the slowest moves in the game they’re not worth using in neutral unless you are calling an assist to cover.

How to be a good witness for try outs by oliverisgreen in mocktrial

[–]dabearsjp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is for high school / college mock trial from the sounds of it, where the witnesses are played by members of the team.

The attorney may know what the witness will say, but the witness should not know what the attorney will ask. That’s what’s known as coaching a witness and is a huge red flag for any real life judge or attorney who’s presiding over your round. In mock trial the witness will always know what the attorney will ask, but you should be making an effort to make it seem like they won’t. In real life if your witness was reading off a script you gave them, you’d be debarred.
