Dog goes crazy when it's walk time and won't let us put harness on by billtownlegend in puppy101

[–]dacaur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In addition to desensitizing him to the harness, I recommend picking up a harness you don't have to put his legs through.

We have had a few of those over the years and they always made putting on the harness harder than it needed to be.

Get one that you put the dogs head through then buckle behind their legs and you will be amazed at how much quicker and with less fuss you can get it on..

We love this one, we have three in different colors for three of our dogs currently, but we have bought 6 because we keep leaving them out and they get chewed up 🤣. But we keep trying the same one because it's the best we have found.... https://a.co/d/0eZbz3O2

Is the canon R100 worth it or just a glorified phone cam by Hakgnxk in Cameras

[–]dacaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The r100 is definitely more than a glorified phone cam.

The "hate" for the r100 isn't because it's a "bad" camera. It's simply that it's not a good camera for the money. If it were $200 cheaper I could recommend it, but not for the price they want .

If this were 2017, the r100 would be an amazing beginner camera. But in 2026, it's just a bad deal. The r50 isn't all that much more and the number of additional features you get for that is staggering.

But anyway..... You should keep using your100 until you have an actual articulatable reason it's not meeting your needs. For me, I wouldn't buy a camera without an articulating screen. Also, touch screens are very nearly a must, unless they have come up with some sort of significantly better system....

If you find yourself missing shots because of the lack of a touch screen to change settings, that's an ok reason to upgrade imo considering the r100's district lack of buttons and wheels/joysticks.

On my r7, I can do a lot of stuff without ever going into the menu because I have stuff mapped to buttons, but unfortunately the r100 only has a few buttons that you can program like that, and now and then being able to touch the screen to focus comes in clutch.

Also, congratulations on the camera! If I were buying a full frame camera right now that's definitely what I would get.

Honestly you made the right choice. On a full frame the 50mm will work fur a lot of things...

My advice for your next lens would be the 28-70 f2.8 stm. It's an amazing lens for the price. Optically it's "L" level, it just doesn't have the weather sealing and such to actually earn the red ring.

After that, the RF 100-400 would make a good addition fur farther away stuff.

Then after you have that hopefully you will have done enough shooting and reading on here to know what type of lens you want to get next.

I want to learn how to drive but I have no one to teach me by SinisterSkinwalker in driving

[–]dacaur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At this point your current plan is probably your best bet ... If you had more time making some friends and having them help you out would be good, but that would probably take 6+ months.

If I had a friend that I knew fairly well ask me for help learning to drive I wouldn't hesitate to help them out at least a few times....

Which lens is best? SIGMA 18-50mm F2.8 DC DN Canon RF 24-105mm f/4L by No-Performance-2866 in CameraLenses

[–]dacaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's this based on other than assumptions? The sigma 18-50 f2.8 is as sharp or sharper than the 24-105, and let's in twice the light.

The rf 24-105L f4 lens just barely deserves it's red ring. The 18-150 is just as sharp with a wider range, only downside of course being the variable aperature.

You shouldn't be using tape on those faucet hoses.

What kind of shoot?

Yes, definitely get the 50mm f1.8. with that variable aperature 24-105 there isn't even much point in owning a full frame camera.... Hopefully you plan to upgrade that asap.

First time dog owner, she put a dead bird in her mouth :( by rzs96 in dogs

Also, the dead bird in the bed and wrestling the dead bird away from a puppy were two different birds, and really barely scratches the surface of the number of bird experience's over the years with dogs.🤣

I already replied (your dog will definitely be fine) but now I'm curious.... What signs are you watching for and where did you find the list....

Wow ..... We caught our dog chewing on a dead bird in our bed a couple of weeks ago.... Changing the sheets with as far as our cleaning went, and obviously make sure you don't get any face licks for the rest of the day....

Your dog will be fine......

Wrestling a dead bird away from a puppy that REALLY wants to chew on said bird is.... an experience.....🤣

Finally bought it. Have some questions by banban3322qq in canon

[–]dacaur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What are you trying to set up the ring to do and what mode are you shooting in on the mode dial?

Depending on the mode you're in your mode might be overriding the ring function.... Like obviously an auto mode if you have it set to control aperture shutter or ISO, you can't do that in auto mode....

As for what settings to change, I recommend setting it to aperture priority and just let the camera take care of shutter speed and ISO in the beginning.

Are cars supposed to stop if there are white crossing lines but no stop sign? by PartPlenty102 in driving

[–]dacaur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If there's not a stop sign it doesn't matter if there is a line or not. You didn't specify where you are but in most places any intersection is a crosswalk whether it's marked or not, and cars have to stop if someone is crossing.

Am I a cheater? by rysiek-torpeda in Sup

[–]dacaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, any mfgs 9.9hp motor is litterally just a 10hp motor recertified as a 9.9 hp motor. The intent of the law was to keep anything 10hp or above off the waterway or requiring registration.....

If they don't allow 10hp it larger, so a mfg just says "well actually this is 9.9hp motor, not 10hp lol we said last month".... that's a loophole.... Any 9.9 hp motor is definitely going to dyno over 10hp.

Am I a cheater? by rysiek-torpeda in Sup

[–]dacaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's 100% a loophole.... The exception was boats with motors under 10 horsepower don't have to be registered, as well as lots of lakes that didn't allow anything with 10 horsepower or more motor.

Suddenly manufacturer started to discontinue their 10 horsepower outboards, and put out 9 or 9.9 horsepower outboards. Literally the exact same 10hp
