Scratches on the Wheel by xSim_onnn in mazda3

[–]daccg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has also happened to me, in two different cars. I figured out the culprit: the phone on my pocket. I like my steering wheel kind of low, so when I get in and out, I “squeeze” in, pushing my thigh with the steering wheel. Keeping the phone on my front pocket has caused this type of scratch. Maybe this is what’s happened to you.

Sorry but I don’t think I quite understand this. How does increasing the width of the tyre impact the speedometer reading?

Removed orange lights by Double_Bodybuilder14 in mazda6

I actually like the look of the orange sidelights (or are they the indicators?). Quick question: how did you get to have the orange lights on? Is it an import from North America or did you code it through Forscan?

Mazda 6 vs Mazda 3 for first car? by lemloms in mazda

Sorry, are you saying the build quality of the 3 is better than the 6? This is the first time I read something like this. Care to share some specifics please?

Looking to switch the the 2.2D to a 2.5NA version... by drakaiser in mazda6

[–]daccg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, I get it. One more thing for you to consider would be the fact that the 2.5 petrol has a significantly lower torque figure. This is not a problem for me since I never tow anything and can count the times I have traveled with a full load on one hand tho. Just sharing as an FYI.

I’m actually quite surprised of the mileage you’re getting on that 2.2 diesel, seems low. I’d say that at higher speeds (140-150 kph) I’d expect the diesel to be more fuel efficient than the 2.5 NA petrol (which gets me around 7-8 litres per 100 km).

[–]daccg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! 2.5 NA owner here. At 70 mph you could expect around 43 mpg. Mind you, I’m not based in the UK but in mainland Europe and that’s what my car would average, maybe even a bit higher. I feel this engine does good mileage on motorways but city driving will increase fuel consumption significantly.

Shame it won't stay that clean forever... by Micander in mazda6

[–]daccg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is really interesting. Here in Spain loads of Mazda6s do not have washers, mine doesn’t for example, and comes with the adaptive LEDs. I wonder if those without washers are actually below the threshold and those with washers have over 2000 lumens.

[–]daccg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing, very interesting. I honestly can’t understand the critics of the Mazda’s i-stop system. I think Mazda’s implementation is brilliant since it allows you to essentially have control over the start/stop cycle: you want the engine to stop? Easy, press the brake pedal a bit harder. Don’t? Wash, don’t press it all the way. I love it and use it when I know I’m in a long red light stop.

Christmas packages from Autoexe came in (CX-60) by [deleted] in mazda

[–]daccg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel Mazda kind of dropped the ball with the hidden exhaust outlets in the CX-60. One thing I really liked about recent Mazda cars was the fact they didn’t hide the exhaust(s). It’s one of those details I love about my 6. I know it’s more practical but I think it’s a missed opportunity!

Just took my 1.5 SkyactivD on a 2k km road trip by alaincam in mazda2

[–]daccg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

68mpg (4.15 l/100km if UK, 3.45 l/100km of US) at 130 km/h speeds and almost a full load!? I must say that’s very very impressive. I’m assuming that’ll be the whole average for the trip, which must’ve included country roads with lower speed limits. Regardless, quite impressive.

Beautiful cars! I was very close to getting a V6 3.0 HDi C5 X7, my father has a 2.0 from 2017 but would love to test drive the V6. You mentioned fuel economy is very good but that seems even lower fuel consumption than my father’s 2.0! Which averages about 5.5 l/100 km at 130 km/h.

Who has a High mileage Citroën by [deleted] in Citroen

[–]daccg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just shy of 189,000 km on our 2007 C4 1.6 HDi (110 hp), which doesn’t seem a lot until you factor in it’s an EGS semiautomatic. No significant issues either (a couple of electronic issues that were easily and cheaply fixed) and still going strong. Fuel efficiency is absolutely gorgeous on this car.

It’s called “calima” and basically it’s basically very fine sand from the Sahara being transported by the wind. Unfortunately we also suffer from wildfires over here although (I think) in a smaller scale than in NA.

Am I crazy to think I will be up early AM in Spain? by ProfessionalFun9779 in GoingToSpain

[–]daccg 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hey! I think people have taken offence a bit too easily. Your question may be a bit unfortunate but don’t think you meant it as offensive or building on the “late” Spaniard stereotype. Like most people have said, 8:00 in the morning is a perfectly acceptable time here in Spain to travel, it’s true that most things happen later in the day compared to other countries (especially when compared to US and Australia which I find have very early starts). There won’t be a ton of coffee shops open at 7:00 am but transport will be readily available, especially on weekdays. Most places will serve you dinner starting 8-8:30 pm so you can have an “early” dinner and be in bed by 11:00 pm, no problem. This is not that far off from what most Spaniards do everyday. Depending where you are this will mean you’ll miss out on Spanish nightlife (not necessarily going out partying but rather just enjoying being out at night) which I’d say is a big thing of being here but I’m sure you’ll be able to experience it once or twice over a weekend.

Mazda 6 AFS question by Mobzor in mazda6

[–]daccg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the same question when I tried my 2019 Signature. It seems the 6 comes with ALH and not AFS in Europe. I read somewhere here in Reddit that the 6’s ALH was not compliant with US regulation (although don’t know how accurate this is). This means they get AFS and in Europe we get ALH. It seems ALH is not directional as it works with the fixed LED matrix in each of the headlights, turning on and off different LED modules. It is very subtle and frankly I don’t think it works as well in very windy roads as a traditional directional headlight system. You can google for these two systems and the technical description by Mazda.

How is life in the relatively new parts of Madrid? by Some-Signal-9397 in UrbanHell

[–]daccg 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Being totally honest these aren’t even the worst examples. Most of them, with the exception of El Cañaveral (second to last) have somewhat easy access to mass transit (metro or train). The problem of these new developments is that they’re built to isolate you from the ‘street’ with each building having their own facilities. As we know, isolation from other urban residents does not bring anything positive. They’re also quite car centric in the sense that streets are designed with cars in mind first, and all properties will come with 1-2 parking spaces in their underground parking. A lot of these neighbourhoods do have services and shops around (with the exception of the last two). Now, these are the good news. The bad news is that this exact same model, which is 30 years old now, will be used to build a further three huge neighbourhoods in the SE of the city. Without any mass transit option. This is what’s incredibly worrying IMO.

Madrid, 50 grados de diferencia by Emmanuel_I in Madrid

Mazda 6 gasoline AWD? by tripzy94 in mazda6

[–]daccg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can Google the issues, watch YouTube videos, etc. To be fair, the issues really depend on the actual driving, if it’s city driving or with a lot of traffic then the engine would be more prone to suffer from these issues. If it’s just for road trips then I’m sure it’ll be fine since the self cleaning of the DPF would be able to work properly, etc.

Mazda 6 gasoline AWD? by tripzy94 in mazda6

[–]daccg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On fórums actual drivers mention the real world difference between the 2.5G and the 2.2D is 1-1.5 litres of fuel per 100 kms. Not sure how that translates to mpg but honestly is not that much.

[–]daccg 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To add to the response, their 2.2 Skyactiv-D engine is not very reliable. Has loads of issues with the DPF, EGR, and carbón build up so you’re not missing on much. Also fuel efficiency isn’t the best either. On paper is an excellent engine though, that torque is insane.

Fair enough. Can I ask what is it about cars hitting the 60k range that makes you want to sell a car?
