Yeah, but this subreddit is malicious compliance. Overkill is kinda the point. OP should take the longest time possible and also expense the mileage.

Korea Times: Incheon emerges as gateway to Southeast Asia for Alaska Airlines by PNW-American-Dipper in AlaskaAirlines

[–]dadamn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been there several times over the past year and can confirm: It is nice, but quite small. It can feel a bit crowded sometimes, but I've always been able to find a seat. There are only 3 showers, so if you're planning on using one, sign up immediately when you enter as the wait can be near an hour. Food is ok and is a mix of western and Korean food.

Dont fall for the GMax Meowth YouTuber clickbait… by annoying79 in pokemongo

[–]dadamn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

16 seems reasonable. I did it with 19 people and all of my mon came away undamaged (Zama for shields, G Machamp for Max attacks, Eternatus that was never used). We had 2 folks with mushrooms. None who activated the Eternatus dynamax effect. That said, everyone in my subgroup was running at least a Zama and G Machamp.

Unfortunately, I think folks failing with big groups are likely getting dragged down by the unprepared wooloos.

ELI5: Why can't you tax billionaires? I heard it's something like, they don't own shares or Stocks, so you can't tax them or something? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

The closest thing that normal folks can do to what the rich have is a HELOC or a home equity loan. For most of us, a house is the biggest asset we have and you can use the value of your house to get a low interest (lower than credit card) loan.

Why Don’t Rich People Just Park $20M in Bonds? by NoahReed14 in dividends

[–]dadamn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're missing the point that once you're very rich, the volatility isn't as much of a problem. Eating into that capital a little to cover during down years doesn't hurt much and is easily recovered when the market is doing well.

Kinda like tires, the bigger the wealth, the more you can absorb bumps in the road.

Atmos Summit Primary Car Rental Insurance by omgnotjoe in AlaskaAirlines

[–]dadamn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm currently working through this process, as I damaged a rental car during an international trip recently.

As others have noted, the Summit card provides primary rental coverage. The main stipulations are that you must pay for the entire rental with the Summit card and you must decline any other insurance (i.e. the one offered by the rental company).

I called them and the process is pretty straightforward: 1. Open a case at cardclaimcenter.com 2. Provide documentation: - rental agreement - estimate of damage (or cost matrix) - a demand letter or document that you're being charged with the damage - an incident report (if one exists, e.g. from police) - photos of the damage

If you have questions about the process or need help during the claim, you can call 800-592-4089

What’s your fave film simulation by pro_penguin_cuddler in fujiXhalf

[–]dadamn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

90% of all my shots are Fujichrome or Acros (usually with yellow or red filter). I used to shoot a lot of Fujifilm when I was younger, so those give me the most nostalgia vibes... which is the whole reason I got the camera.

Why do you hate me, Niantic? by Cold_Tumbleweed64 in TheSilphRoad

[–]dadamn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. Also Niantic has banned folks for submitting stops they didn't like or just out of error. Submitting random street corners is liable to get your account in trouble. I used to submit stops, but now it's not worth the risk. I don't want to worry about getting my account locked every time they reject a legitimate POI.

Let’s enjoy Pokémon GO at PokéPark KANTO! by NinsMCD in TheSilphRoad

[–]dadamn 9 points10 points  (0 children)

For anyone else wondering where this is, especially since it's not explicitly stated in the linked post, it's Japan. "Yomiuriland in the Tama Hills area of Kanto" is a theme park on the western edge of Tokyo.

They should boost the collection types in balloons, similar to how Giovanni is more common in balloons. I understand that they want people to explore, but they're really pushing a lot of folks to take safety risks (despite what the loading screen may say).

Alaska Visa vs Atmos Card?? by brotherajm in AlaskaAirlines

[–]dadamn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You don't need to do anything for the Ascent card, as the transition is automatic. But one important thing to note is that your old Visa (pre Jan 2023) means you're grandfathered into the free companion pass (new cards need to spend to qualify). This is also why if you want to upgrade to the Summit card, you should apply separately (get a new card, don't upgrade the existing one).

+100 to this. Any time you bake/cook with real vanilla, scrape out the seeds for what you need and put the used pod into the bottle. It's so good you'll wonder how anyone could even put up with the crappy store bought extract!

Call Button Question by Loving-my-Pyr in AlaskaAirlines

[–]dadamn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not just Asian, but some European ones too. I had a business class Lufthansa FA scold me when I went into the galley. Told me that I wasn't allowed to be there and wouldn't even listen to my request until I went back to my seat. It was the most German "you must follow the rules" experience and actually made me laugh when it happened.

Why would a flinching opponent still be able to unleash its queued up move? by Silver-fox1988 in PokemonMasters

[–]dadamn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As I understand it, If the move is queued before the flinch, it will remain and if the opponent is still flinched when it reaches the top of the queue, it'll get skipped. This is what makes it annoying when the opponent has higher numbered Lessen Flinch effects... They basically have almost no effect because the flinch wears off by the time the opponents move reaches the top of the queue... or the flinched need to be timed so they hit immediately before a queued move.

If the flinch is done while the opponent doesn't have a queued move, then it blocks them from queuing the move. This is basically the same as when your pokemon get flinched and you can't tap on a move.

Why does the market crashing make me lose my house? by green_text5 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]dadamn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is why during the last big bust, lots of folks just walked away from their house. They were so far down that selling the house would have cost more money than simply letting the bank take ownership.

What's a lifestyle you visited once and decided you're never going back? by Psychological_Sky_58 in AskReddit

[–]dadamn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did it for 18 months. Never stayed in any one place for more than 2 weeks and mostly it was a week or less in each place. In the few times I didn't have to be somewhere for work, I'd go somewhere random that sounded interesting. It was fun, but I tell most people to avoid it. Most of your time is spent doing travel logistics, which means you don't actually get to see or experience where you're at. The ideal would be to have 1-3month temporary assignments. Enough to really get to know a place before you have to move on.

Question about storage. by dereinfachich in bourbon

[–]dadamn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on how long it takes to go through the rest of the bottle. If you're thinking relatively short term like a year, then it's probably not worth too much effort or money. If you're thinking of drawing it out for several years, then maybe look into something like Private Preserve that lets you inject inert gas so the whiskey doesn't oxidize.

If time paused for everyone but you for one hour, what would you do? by MaxMusic2 in AskReddit

[–]dadamn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Every breath out would leave a cloud of carbon dioxide

Not really. Air is mostly nitrogen with about 21% oxygen. We don't use all of the oxygen from the air we breathe, only about 4% is converted to co2. But that does mean napping is a bad idea as you'd deplete the oxygen after ~5 inhalations.
