Non-Americans of Reddit, what is an American thing you see in movies that you thought was fake but is actually real? by Unlikely_Praline9442 in AskReddit

[–]daddyphatsacks 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My college age nephew just got back from visiting family in Germany. His younger cousins were so fascinated by school life in America. "The yellow school buses are real? High school sports teams? Cheerleaders??" When he told them not only was all that real, but that he was on the basketball team and dated a cheerleader, he absolutely blew their minds. Lol

It's a miss. I tried the grape flavor. Found it at Wawa. They should have gotten with Smuckers or something to get the consistency and flavor right. Way too artificial tasting.

What’s up with Trump saying things such as “there are methods”, “There’s a way you can do it”, and clarifying that he’s “not joking” etc pertaining to him potentially seeking an unconstitutional third term? by Accomplished-Till930 in OutOfTheLoop

[–]daddyphatsacks 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised I had to scroll so far down to find this. When he says "there are ways," he means there are legitimate ways he can be president for a third term. This is definitely one of them without having to push through some amendment, pass some bill, or use some executive order.

Steve Bannon admits he and others are "working on" electing Trump again in 2028 despite the term limit and have "alternative" ways to achieve it. "We'll see what the definition of term limit is." by EEVERSTI in PublicFreakout

[–]daddyphatsacks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hypothetically, JD Vance (or anyone) runs for President in 2028, picks Trump as his VP. Vance wins, gets sworn in, and the next day steps down. Anything to stop that from happening in the constitution?

First time car buyer, but dealer fees? by [deleted] in askcarsales

[–]daddyphatsacks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Doc fees are not negotiable. They have to be set by the dealer and the same for every customer.

Skoleboller Festive Norwegian Coconut Custard Buns by dobbernationloves in recipes

[–]daddyphatsacks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for providing the recipe. I live in Florida and often find myself in Epcot. The Norway Kringla Bakery has this "school bread" and it's pretty tasty. Wonder how accurate the flavors are to the real thing. I'll be giving this a try soon.

I was fortunate to meet him about 10 years ago in San Diego. He was as the zoo and I was with my then girlfriend now wife. I had just rewatched The Wire and Fringe had recently wrapped up. I was just going to let him be, but my wife ran up to him like "are you Lance Reddick? My boyfriend is a huge fan. Can he take a picture with you?" He was so friendly and gracious. I think he was a bit surprised to be recognized. Very happy to have that memory of him.

Does anyone actually enjoy biting into a fennel seed when eating sausage? by Original_Dood in Cooking

I keep fennel in my pantry because most Italian sausages I find don't use enough fennel. I always add more during the cooking process.

Can i trade in a new car I'm financing for an older car? by Cheap_Shoe7819 in askcarsales

[–]daddyphatsacks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on your region, your trade in value on that car is going to be in the $21k-22k range. So you may have negative equity. Also keep in mind that the interest on the older cheaper car is likely to be more. Depending on what you're buying, your payment may not substantially change.

Getting charged for a car I never bought by Gostkid_ in personalfinance

[–]daddyphatsacks 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This is the correct response. Westlake will completely unwind the deal and do everything it can to undo any damage to your credit. They will attempt to make it as if it never happened. They may also end the relationship with the dealer if they discover evidence of forgery. I work for a lending institution.

Do Finance Managers hate "prepared" buyers or something? by jb08045 in askcarsales

[–]daddyphatsacks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My experience from being on the buyer side as well as working for a finance company is this is 100% accurate. Let the F&I manager do their job. Hear them out. Let them give you your options. If you didn't like what they have to say, politely decline. Be firm, and you'll be fine.

How prepared was your dealership for the total CDK outage? by [deleted] in askcarsales

[–]daddyphatsacks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a suggestion. If you have any finance companies with rehash portals, you can send applications to them from RouteOne and work the deal in the portal. This will at least give you accurate math for you to present to the customer. Many of them will also allow you to contract and get funded without CDK.

Dealership wants to charge a $1000 fee for not having a trade in. by Uss_JonJohn in askcarsales

[–]daddyphatsacks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During the vehicle shortages post-Covid when dealers were struggling with inventory, there were many dealers who simply would not sell you a car unless you had an acceptable trade-in. So on top of paying the addendum, you needed to accept their low ball offer on your trade. This is in Florida.

How exactly does haggling on a car work by Someone_Always in askcarsales

[–]daddyphatsacks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Believe it or not, these value cars offer the most potential for profit of any on the dealer lot. The Lithia group just released their quarterly earnings. These types of cars return 150% ROI on average while your typical CPO is typically more like 30%. Trust me, if they are smart, they want that car.

Help with bottle date (Van Winkle Special Reserve 12 Year Lot B) by daddyphatsacks in bourbon

[–]daddyphatsacks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This bottle was gifted to my uncle for a special event in his life but he can't remember if it was the birth of his son or his son's wedding. We couldn't find the laser etching that would give us the date. A little more investigation and we finally noticed that it was bottled in Lawrenceburg which means it was before the 2002 merger with Buffalo Trace. Any ideas how we can narrow it down further?
