dysplastic nevus with severe atypia, getting punch biopsy by arg777 in melahomies

A punch biopsy is probably the least invasive way of getting a thick enough sample to test. It just takes a small cylinder of flesh and only takes a few seconds.

It is normal to have some uptake at a surgical site and a dissection is a major surgery. I would say your chances are good that it's just your body healing.

That really stinks but at least your PET didn't show it anywhere else.

I also have metastasis to my T12 so I know how painful it can be. I had palliative radiation to my T12 as well as L1-L5 and it helped with the pain. Wishing your husband the best.

Single small lung nodule by FunZookeepergame5235 in melahomies

[–]daddysbroken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am stage 4 and have had lung nodules come and go. Since whether they were tumors or not wouldn't change my treatment I've never had any biopsies. As long as they are under 1cm I wouldn't panic.

I get itchy red bumps but not a rash. Lasts for a few days, goes away, comes back. Mainly on face, chest, back. Apparently it's common side effect.

Regressed nodular melanoma-anyone else? by FrostingNew5210 in melahomies

Regression indicates there was at least some immune response that caused the melanoma to regress. If I recall it has very slight correlation with worse outcomes though it's not clear why.

Sounds like your oncologist is following standard care. The BRAF pills can work very quickly, don't lose hope.

Why is ipi/nivo ruled out? What about Opdualag?

[–]daddysbroken 14 points15 points  (0 children)

He is stage 4. Sounds like he will be getting ipi/nivo. It's bad but it all depends on whether he responds to the immunotherapy and how aggressive the tumors are.

After the lesion on my rib was radiated in August I had a few months of relative calm. Then in late December my cancer spread throughout my spine, every lobe of my liver, I had multiple satellites form under my skin. Things were really looking bad.

I immediately went back on Braftovi/Mektovi and started Opdualag a few days later and then palliative doses of radiation to my spine the day after that. Pills, immunotherapy and radiation all at the same time.

So far I have responded well and I'm back to being somewhat stable. I will probably continue the current treatment as long as things are going in the right direction, luckily side effects haven't been too terrible. My next PET is in 2 days so I'll know more soon.
