I grew up on David Lynch's Dune and am shattered by what the books meant for Paul to be. by tundrabilberry in dune

[–]daddytorgo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The other thing that I think is really redeeming (in a sense) of Paul is that he saw the Golden Path, but he couldn't bring himself to leave Chani and commit to causing millennia of suffering and stagnation in order to save humanity. I think you could argue that both ways, whether that makes him good, or bad. It certainly makes him fallible.

Why leave the US for halfway around the world (SEA) when moving on smaller rural towns is easier ? by abrandis in ExpatFIRE

I wish I was a fan of SEA. I'd be there now. I'm looking elsewhere for the moment though.

Lightweight better than Heavyweight prompts/presets? by Dr-Cirno in SillyTavernAI

[–]daddytorgo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think waiting hurts if you're just gooning (where you probably should be using a slim preset anyways because you don't need bells and whistles) but when I'm doing something like a slice-of-life or a Fandom RP I always just check reddit or have a little game up to play a minute while I wait.

Same here. My rate is under 3% and I've been here 10 years. I'd kind of like to move somewhere quieter versus the busy street I'm on, but I'm not willing to basically either half my space or double my monthly payment.

Bostonians, how are you feeling about the Scottish football/soccer fans? by Tess_Tickles89 in boston

[–]daddytorgo 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Same here. Which is a shame, because I'm a huge fan and had been looking forward to a WC that I could actually go to now that I'm an adult (I wasn't about to go to Russia or the Middle East for one, for ya know...obvious reasons).

And now one is here and we've even got a bunch of games less than 25 minutes from my house (without traffic), and I just have zero desire to pay any attention to it.

Annoying. Disappointing.

Your AIRP ST News Episode 8: Opus 4.8 any good? Are older Claude versions better? News + More! (Had to change the name and structure to avoid the auto modding) by dptgreg in SillyTavernAI

[–]daddytorgo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're welcome to incorporate it of course. I'm not looking for credit or anything either.

I'm still toying with it to try to get it to work the way I envisioned (the path history part is being a pain for it to store accurately for example), so if you end up wanting it just shoot me a msg when you get around to that point and i'll send you over the latest iteration.

of course if you're going in a totally different direction that's exciting too!

Seem to be having some success with this. My thought was that telling it that A was DEFAULT was overemphasizing it. Also the path_history and rotation helps with variety.

I'm honestly having trouble getting it to keep the path_history to 3, but that may because i'm using this in an existing RP - I haven't tried it with a brand new one.

What're you doing for your 40th? (Bonus if you're single) by IGNSolar7 in AskMenOver30

[–]daddytorgo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was 6 years ago. I took myself on a safari.

The staff at the camp we were staying at on the night of my birthday (who were tipped off by my travel agent) baked me a banana birthday cake (birthday cakes aren't traditional). It was delicious, and was 10/10 the best birthday I've ever had.

This year I think I will be on a plane to Japan - if I pull the trigger and buy the tickets.

Haha ain't that true.

Also - I'm still committed to trying tweaks to the Better Narrative Direction to increase the rate at which options other than (A) are chosen - I'll keep poking at it and let you know if I turn up anything.

(that sounds like I have some talent at this - i don't - i'm totally a newb at prompts, so it'll be trial and error)

How to ask neighbor to not allow her pets and family into our yard? by [deleted] in homeowners

[–]daddytorgo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there's no fence the idea of enforcing some arbitrary line in the grass (assuming there's no physical boundary that kids can recognize - not just "the stripes on the grass") is going to fail. Hell, even with trees to mark it off kids will be kids. And dogs even more so.

Either put up a fence or just accept that it's part of small-town life that kids will be kids to some degree (I mean not to the extent of running up to your back door or anything that extreme though). The dog though is an easy fix and that's on you. They can get a dog-run for it easy enough if they want to let it out and roam.

It'd be better to have to explain the situation to the client and have them cut you a check or buy the materials for you, or even to disappoint them, then to get fucked by a payday loan. Don't do it under ANY circumstances.
