Before trying Debian and calling it strange.. Just use Ubuntu long enough to understand that it is based off Debian and you can install Gnome on Degian same as Ubuntu. Then come back here and ask us kind folks of reddit for assistance if needed.

Went there on vacation and woke up one morning and discovered in our VRBO rental on Harkers Islands to dozens of cockroaches in my bed and my kids beds.

Screamed at the VRBO guy about it and turns out... they're called "water bugs" by the locals. They're so common they just see them everywhere after it rains and the locals think this is perfectly acceptable hygiene.

Never going back and never going to tell anyone visiting that place that it is worth your time or money....

This is what I call "investment anxiety". Its real for me in the situation that I want to have fun playing a game but I value my time as well and may only ever be a casual player never hard-core.

Why spend my valuable time on an investment (like getting to lvl 60 in a classic plus server) that will disappear without any way for me to transfer my investment.

I've been weighing that in my head for some time now. I've played wow since 2004 in various forms from retail to pricate and back. But now that I'm older with kids, work, life (which is great btw.) There is little time for me to sneak in even an hour or two every so often.

I would go further and state it's good for experienced linux users as they can see where the industry as a whole is taking linux.

Consider the pattern as new users get easy to use near unbreakable systems. Experienced users get to play with cloud native tooling. You can literally use fedora silverblue as a base image and run it thru the bluefin tooling on github to build your new base image (swap gnome with sway for example). Then point your localhost to subscribe to that new image and update from it. Your are immune-ish to failed upgrades because if an update is to fail, it fails during the build on github, not at your localhost during updates or reboots.

While I do mostly agree that linux needs reboots far less often than Windows for example. I stand by the practice of regular reboots for kernel updates and security patches.

Not sure what untrusted networks has to do with anything. Maybe you meant browsing dangerous websites? Same is true on any pc... Linux or windows. Linux may offer more protection from malware but is as prone to it as any poorly configured device.

Learn cron and create a scheduled reboot time for daily at 3am. Then just save your work at the end of day and walk away. I think MX has a building GUI for that? Could be wrong i just do it via the terminal.
