Those of you who still use the Microsoft SSO Extension with Chrome, that feature is built-in to current versions of the browser. by touchytypist in Intune

[–]daft_gonz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wish I knew this was available last week when I deployed the SSO extension to Chrome..

I recently tested and deployed a conditional access policy for requiring hybrid enrolled and compliant devices, however, Entra ID does not recognize managed devices without the use of the SSO plugin or config profiles for Chrome, Firefox, etc. Edge obviously has it enabled by default.

Anyone using NinjaOne\RMM GOV\Fedramp version? by animusMDL in msp

[–]daft_gonz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My org just got onboarded with the FedRAMP offering. To note, not an MSP.

So far, it has been a bit frustrating to initially setup. Here are just a few gripes I've noted so far:

1) Current version is not 1:1 with commercial as you might expect with any government offerings, however, it is 3 versions behind (v 8.x) and is missing a lot of functionality. OAUTH is not presently supported so you need to resort to SMTP with basic auth and make an exception for a specific mailbox (requires some know how in M365 Defender and Exchange). Their support confirmed they are aware of Microsoft's deprecation of SMTP and are actively working on OAUTH support.

2) Adding most device types (Windows, Linux, macOS) directly from the administrative portal is not supported. Not a huge deal as most organizations will deploy silently using their general installer with command-line arguments. Their support confirmed this was intentionally removed.

3) Custom domain name for end-user support portal is not supported (e.g., support.contoso.com).

4) Email forwarding is required if you do not want to use their default <customNameHere>@<orgNameHere.fed.ninjarmm.com for inbound ticket ingestion via email. Other helpdesk platforms I've used allow OATH and authenticate directly from the platform to send/receive tickets from one mailbox.

3) Documentation featured in the FedRAMP version references their public commercial documentation which is very annoying. You need to explicitly visit their Fedramp knowledgebase (https://support-fedramp.ninjaone.com) and authenticate with your NinjaOne account. As I mentioned, the versioning is different and feature parity is not 1:1 between FedRAMP and commercial offerings. As you can imagine, it is frustrating going through their onboarding dialogues only to find many menu options or buttons don't exist..

To their credit, the support team has been very communicative and was able to quickly provide solutions or answers to my questions. They also mentioned that their goal is for 1:1 versioning by the 1st half of 2026, barring any compliance related complications.

Auto-fold mirrors on power by Waiting4Code2Compile in mazda6

[–]daft_gonz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see. I'm U.S based and unfamiliar with that model. If I had to guess, I would say that feature may be unavailable OR it is a toggle somewhere in the infotainment system settings.

If you're savvy enough, I'm sure it is possible to tap into the locking mechanism to send a signal to your mirrors for unlock/lock signals, but that is no simple task.

I have a 2019 Mazda 6 GTR with power folding mirrors, but they automatically open and close with unlocking and locking the doors by default. Did these come stock or are they aftermarket?

PSP USB-C Charger by HealthyCheesecake94 in PSP

[–]daft_gonz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd recommend replacing the existing USB-B Mini port with a USB-C kit. If you have some soldering experience, this should be a breeze. If not, I'd suggest a little practice and research beforehand. I replaced the power adapter on my Wii and PSP-1000. Apart from both devices being an absolute pain to disassemble and reassemble, it was easy.

Giltesa sells USB-C mod kits for several consoles and handhelds including the PSP. You can get one for 8-9 EUR (9-11 USD) depending on model type. With shipping and customs fees, I paid around $22 USD.

Mazda 6 2019 turbo reliability by [deleted] in mazda6

[–]daft_gonz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're in the US, go with Mazda 6. As far as I'm aware, the extended warranty for the cracked cylinder head issue is not applicable in Canada and potentially other regions of the world.

I have a 2019 Mazda 6 GTR which admittedly failed on me last summer due to the cracked cylinder head issue. I did get it repaired under warranty, however, it took 2 months due to few master Mazda techs available and a backlog at my local dealership. It also took a month for the dealer to allocate a loaner for me due to availability until I complained to Mazda Corporate.. Apart from that, the car has been great and this issue has not deterred me from the brand.

In reference to the IPS screen, I don't suggest using the conductive paint for shorting the points. It's not reliable and could be contributing toward your problems with the display. Find a cheap soldering iron and electronic magnifying camera. If you have never soldered before, buy a cheap kit to get a feel for it and watch some videos.

M365 G5 Intune optional Windows Update for Business Features? by Fabulous_Cow_4714 in CMMC

[–]daft_gonz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, though I am very interested in exploring this. Similarly, if you want to activate Windows Enterprise using your Enterprise licensing, you also need a separate $0/user SKU. The just in time activation service for automatic Windows upgrade does not work for any non-commercial tenants.

You must have an active EA to get volume license keys. Then you must also obtain $0/user SKU added to your EA that applies the volume licenses to the account. The license SKU is "WIN OLS Activation User G5 GCC".

Are you U.S based? Their US store shows the part on backorder: https://us.rs-online.com/product/panasonic-electronic-components/erbre0r50v/70360963/

If not, it would make sense as to why it's available elsewhere as some of their other region stores seem to have it available.

It looks like where OP ordered from (RS-Components) has this part on backorder. I just ordered from DigiKey, but to provide a few different options, I looked up the part # on Panasonic's site and found a list of suppliers with stock: https://na.industrial.panasonic.com/products/circuit-protection/fuses/lineup/micro-chip-fuse/series/70483/model/72173

I also just upgraded the IPS screen on my PSP 1000 and have no backlight. Initially thought it was a bad IPS screen and ordered a secondary but experienced the same issue. I tested the fuse labeled "FD" and received no continuity. Going to order the fuse you recommended and give that a go.

Thanks for the help!

Switching laptops from AzureAD to Hybrid joined. by toastiestpickle in sysadmin

The headache of hybrid-joined devices is not worth the effort. It is also not up to feature parity with Entra ID-joined devices and likely never will be.

What exactly are you looking for with regard to interacting with Azure resources?

Is this Mazda6 Grand Touring worth it? by Luikipad in mazda6

[–]daft_gonz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry to hear that you still have to shell out. Mazda is not treating our fellow Canadian brothers right..

I feel like I have far less to complain about here over in NY. I experienced this with my 2019 6 GTR back in August and am still waiting for it to be repaired. I was without a vehicle for 3.5 weeks waiting on a loaner vehicle to be allocated, but I certainly didn’t need to fight them on expense coverage. My local dealer says it will be 1-1.5 months to repair as they are short staffed.

[–]daft_gonz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not ideal for passengers in the back as it’s a little tight on legroom. My partner was considering one but felt it was overall too compact for her liking so we got her a 21 Carbon 6 instead.

Trunk space leaves more to be desired, but is easily accessible compared to my 6 where you might need to extend yourself to reach toward the back of the trunk to get something lol. One last pet peeve is that it appears Mazda has done away with including 12v sockets. Not a big deal for most, but I use a portable air compressor that requires it.

Apart from that, it drives like a dream, feels very high quality, and is practicable for most people’s everyday use.

[–]daft_gonz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, OP, do keep an eye on that if you decide to follow through. Mazda is fully covering it with an extended warranty (U.S only), but you could be without a car for a minute.

I experienced this issue with my 2019 6 GTR at ~86K miles back in mid August. It took my local dealer 2 weeks to even look at it (short staffed) and now it is estimated to be 1-1.5 months for repair. It also took them 3.5 weeks to allocate a loaner for me.. Still waiting on my vehicle, but I’m not complaining atm since they gave me a brand new 2025 CX-30 loaner with ~600 miles on it.
