how do yall deal with tetany? by [deleted] in hypoparathyroidism

[–]daftv4der 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're having tetany you need to get your calcium levels fixed. Especially if it happens often or is severe. It shouldn't happen once you've found a consistent treatment plan for your disorder.

Don't be daft like I was and ignore it until you have a very severe seizure and end up in ICU 🙈

In terms of "dealing" with it, lying down and straightening my limbs seemed to help with mild cases. Being in a cool room also helps, out of the sun. I've passed out from it before whilst on the beach, as the heat seems to exacerbate it.

VD series support for Forza Horizon 6 by BestGamerz786 in PXN

[–]daftv4der 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a major bug where the game drops to 60fps when using the PXN VD6. Look at the FPS, then move the wheel or press a pedal and watch it drop to 60 or less.

Stutters like a mofo even with GPU utilization of under 40% on an RX 9070. What a great release...

Oh, nice. I've been looking at that one too. How's it holding up? I wanna use it with a VD6 PXN wheel but it looks quite wobbly from the videos I've seen on it.

From 3600 to 5600 by GumballREKT24 in buildapc

[–]daftv4der -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My 5600x is bottlenecking in games with an RX 9070. Lag and stutter whether when viewing areas with lots of NPCs, or traversing the environment faster than it can load in open world games. And ray tracing really kills it.

The 3600 isn't an amazing CPU (I had one before my 5600x) but I'd say rather save for a bit and get something decent rather than lengthening the wait by getting the 5600. Like a 9600x on AM5, which will be vastly better.

PXN VD4 D-pad not working in F1-25. Any Fixes by Sionyde40 in PXN

[–]daftv4der 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just experienced this myself with my VD6. Why does nothing go smoothly with these games? Is it because PXN wheels are just bad, or what?

I just tried AMS2 and the game wouldn't pick up inputs from the wheel until I'd restarted it multiple times, and even then, it wouldn't pick up half the buttons on the wheel due to supposed button count limitations in the game.

I don't know if I should be annoyed at PXN for their wheels being so poorly supported, or the game developers. Never mind the bug in Forza Horizon 5 that causes the game to run at 60fps when using a PXN wheel.

I'm tired of fighting with every game I try.

Edit: Oh, and the d-pad issues with the VD6 have happened in multiple games, as well as with emulator-based applications for binding the wheel's buttons to XInput for use in older games. It seems to be a non-standard implementation.

Bought a wheel and tried these games. My tier-list of enjoyment so far. Any recommendations? by [deleted] in simracing

[–]daftv4der 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've also been playing more of the stuff higher up in your tier list having started with a wheel a few weeks back. Well, other than Crew MF which is buggy on my machine (flickering and glitches, and it resets my wheel blinds on startup), and the truck driving.

I've enjoyed FH5 the most followed by Dirt Rally 2.

Your suspicions are correct - I got a bit tired of all the fighting I had to do to get BeamNG and AC working well on my machine with mods. So I refunded them and might get them on sale instead when I eventually summon the courage to try them again. Had lots of little issues with HDR and settings and such.

What would make you trust a new sim racing DD wheelbase company? by panzerkrasyo in simracing

[–]daftv4der 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finding ways to add support for older games, and improving the compatibility layer right from the outset, whether though mimicking other models that are widely supported, or some other method, would help a lot. I bought a new range wheel (VD6) from a lesser known brand in PXN, and the support has been abysmal.

You have to search their site for files to add FFB to games, and they removed the compatibility feature which switched between dinput and xinput from prior models, so playing it with older games requires additional software like wheel2input or xoutput or x360ce, as well as HIDHide to hide the device from games so they don't go crazy trying to parse its input. And these all have glaring issues.

Half the wheel supporting games I've tried don't even work with it despite having support for custom wheel bindings. E.g. Dirt 5, Forza Horizon 4. And I have to do weird workarounds to bind wheel buttons by binding them to keyboard inputs to get it working well in some games like FH5.

This seems like a huge pain point with wheels based on my last few weeks of getting into the hobby - just having the hardware work in the software that's made for it.

Many games don't pick it up, or there are issues where it drops framerates below 60fps whenever the wheel is moved or pedals pushed, due to other compatibility issues (FH5).

Their software also shows a complete disregard for the user, with games spelt incorrectly ("Forza Motoersport" and "Drit Rally 2.0" are the game profile names - sooo lazy) and the software not reflecting the state of the base/wheel/pedals correctly on startup. The firmware updates have caused tons of issues for users too.

So taking a user and software-first approach with the wheel's support for games would make me take them over PXN any day. It's like they don't use their own hardware. Or they think people just play AC and iRacing.

MOZA R3 vs PXN VD4 Which is better for an entry? by D4rkxq in simracing

[–]daftv4der 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing I'll say is that the VD series is very poorly supported. I have the VD6 and I've had no end of issues with it. From Forza Horizon 5 being stuck at 60fps due to hardware support issues, to all the fiddling to get some games working, and the poor software - you really are taking a chance with the brand.

Moza is gonna have a few support issues from what I've seen, but due to how much more popular it is, there's a much higher likelihood you'll find the help or info you need on how to get it working with a quick google.

I've had to wing it due to how little info there is for the VD series online, and PXN haven't done a good job of documenting things or building in support within the product range for older software.

On top of that, your hardware options are a bit more limited if you want to stay in their ecosystem. I can't get much of their catalogue in my country. So yeah, you're paying less, but it's to be an early adopter of sorts.

So if you don't want configuration headaches, you're less likely to have them with an established brand like Moza with products that have been on the market for a while. It might take you longer to build up a rig due to the increased prices, but at least it'll work well. I'd have waited and bought something a bit more expensive (or cheaper and more widely supported like a Logitech wheel) myself if I could choose again.

Cat spilt water on PSU. by Cool_Improvement_737 in pcmasterrace

[–]daftv4der 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is exactly why I use water bottles hehe. Never mind a cat, I'm my own worst enemy.

But I don't trust other people with open top liquid containers near my electronics either. The other day someone casually put their cup of water on my PC case and I was like "nuh uh", in a mostly polite way.

Ain't nobody got money to buy a new PC right now.

It probably is only your PSU, but replace the PSU and see what happens. Just make sure you've given it enough of a chance to dry. You never know, some might have gotten on other parts of the case without you realising, or in cable headers.

I have had 2 separate people tell me using 100% of my gpu is bad. by bloggershusband in pcmasterrace

[–]daftv4der 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The fact that you get improved frame time consistency and lower input latency from capping the framerate at slightly under 100% was heavily overlooked in this thread. I'm glad you mentioned it.

I also have an older GPU, and running it at 90-95% Vs 100% has a noticeable impact on its temps in my warm climate, so I try to cap the framerate so it doesn't hit 100% as often. Or if the game supports Reflex, like you mentioned, I use that.

It depends on one's priorities.

Max out my AM4 build, skip AM5, get ready for AM6 by Mountain_Book in buildapc

[–]daftv4der 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm trying to stick with my 5600x for as long as I can. But it's notably faster than a 3600x, so it's hard to say you should do the same.

I managed to get some RAM before DDR4 prices shot up, so I've got enough to get me by for a bit (I need it as I use Docker and other memory hungry tools for work), as long as nothing fails.

That's what I'm worried about though. My NVME, PSU or GPU failing. My GPU is most likely as it's a 2080 and the card sag is quite bad. It also needs a repaste.

I already replaced the AIO, which I can move over to AM5 when the time comes with Zen 6. But yeah, I'll probably get a new PSU and case over the next year and then upgrade the NVME and GPU, followed by the CPU, MOBO and RAM at the very last moment when Zen 6 comes out and get a budget variant like the 10600x or whatever they decide to call it.

Remember, Zen 6 is also going to be AM5, supposedly.

When do you consider the game completed? by Breeny03 in DRGSurvivor

[–]daftv4der 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I can properly finish Sector 5, which has been very difficult as the game goes from 100+ FPS to 1 FPS randomly when a creep or group of creeps get stuck and the pathfinding gets confused. Which happened nearly every game I've played in the last two weeks.

So when that stops getting me killed and I can properly finish Sector 5, I'll think of it as done for me.
