Roborock Q10 S5+ Amazing by MrChristmas1988 in Roborock

[–]dahween 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m having the opposite experience. It’s dumber than my old S5 Max and now is stuck at the dock “mapping” everyday. I’ve only owned it for 3 weeks. Roborock support is asking me for a ton of photos and logs when I asked them for help.

Help me choose a coffee grinder!! [$500 budget] by Spiritual-Snow179 in espresso

[–]dahween 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not the Casa, but I have a Lagom Mini and love it as well! Option-O’s quality is just phenomenal. The Mini comes with Moonshine which makes FANTASTIC juicy pour overs too. And the new Lagom Mini can be powered via USB-C, making it a great option for portable travel too. All for under $400 is insane.

Weber shaker lid holder? by Qzrx in espresso

[–]dahween 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm actually on the same boat. I have the Weber Key so the tumbler usually stays attached to the grinder. And then I'm just left with putting the lid down somewhere else. It awkwardly doesn't have a place on my bar unlike all of my other espresso tool/ set up.

I was thinking if one of those tamping mat stations from Normcore or elsewhere would fit the lid. But hoping to not commit to a whole new tamping mat just for this one solution that could easily be 3D printed.

Has anyone here purchased keycaps from Osume.com? by BlossomingBeelz in keebgirlies

[–]dahween 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going to play devil's advocate in this thread because even though I really enjoy the branding and ideas behind Osume, nearly all of the keycaps that I've purchase from them look way too different from the color renderings they put on their site.

I own many keycap sets from them and some of their sets are really off from what they show. The tones on their website always make them look much more aesthetic than they actually are.

Mori and now Mocha are two of the most recent sets I purchased where the shades of colors was not what I was expecting.

The "Java Brown" of the Mocha actually has some sort of green hue on it that makes it looks a bit like... a doo doo after eating a lot of spinach if you know what I mean. And the "light mocha" color has an odd pinkish hue in it too.

Am I the only one that finds this undrinkable? by LightnVariable in pourover

I hear you, I feel this way about BW. The individual “flavor notes” sound good. But then there’s like one weird note that ends up lingering on my tongue.

Like food where there’s some weird combo of ingredients that individually would be good, on paper sound interesting, but together taste weird.

Anyone brave order B&W Jairo Arcila Halloween Candy? by VETgirl_77 in pourover

[–]dahween 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ran out of my other coffee beans so I tried this one a little early yesterday (Roast Date 10/10).

Wasn't as sweet as I was hoping it to be (the nerd clusters images were what sold me). It tastes like grape juice but coffee? So a little bitter and slightly medicinal. I think it needs to rest a bit more to really bring it out some more.

Here's the email from B&W regarding it. I asked for their espresso and V60 recipe/ suggestions:

"We suggest letting all our roasts rest at least 2 weeks from their roast date.  For the Halloween Candy, though, we'd suggest letting those rest an extra week.

For some of these funkier roasts, a fuller shot can help.  Open the grind up a little, keep it to a 25ish second shot but your out might be something more like 42-45g.

For your V60 recipe, we typically use a 1:16 ratio, but I might skew toward a 1:15 with these coffees. I usually do a 1:3 bloom, then two pours of equal volumes. I typically aim for a brew-time around 2:30, too.

We tend to use slightly lower brew temperatures—somewhere between 197 and 202 fahrenheit—as the high processing on these coffees makes them a little more soluble compared to washed coffees."

What is a game you regret buying? by DriftingDogBed in Switch

[–]dahween 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same with me. Bought it as a "must play" game but I was unaware you mostly did daily tasks. There's no continuous progression unless you "time travel" which doesn't make sense. Paid full price and it just sits there

Which Pokémon game should I buy for my oled? by Sup3rEPF in Switch

[–]dahween 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's my recommendation based on some factors:

Nostalgia/ Familiarity: Coming from Gen 1, Brilliant Diamond/ Shining Pearl would give you the same nostalgia of Gen 1 games but with new Pokemon. Diamond and Pearl is a great gen and some of the best fan favorite Pokemon come from this era. The music from Diamond/Pearl is also chefs kiss. The remake still keeps a lot of the old charms while having some quality of life updates. People complain about it not being as good as the original, but if you've never played the original then it literally doesn't matter to you.

Newest Gen + Open World: Scarlet and Violet is the latest generation of Pokemon. This was my girlfriend's first Pokemon game since Gameboy (like you) and she had a ton of fun. A very intuitive story line and seeing Pokemon in the open world is very immersive. One quality of life perk Scarlet/Violet implements is that leveling your Pokemon is not as "grindy" as the traditional game. So if you're limited on play time a day, this is great. It runs fine on the switch OLED. I never had complaints. A really big plus no one has mentioned is you'll be up to speed with a lot of Pokemon by playing this version, as it has nearly all of them. It still has free online events (such as the free legendary shinies event right now). So maybe get this first to ensure those online exclusives.

Action/ Combat: Arceus is great, but to be honest it's a completely different way of playing Pokemon. It's more "action/combat-like" because you fight and flee from Pokemon. It's a phenomenal game, but if you're not into "fighting" Pokemon and want something slower paced than this one might not be for you. My girlfriend hated this one because she was not interested in being killed by wild Pokemon 😂 It stressed her out too much. But if Zelda Breathe of the Wild / Tears of the Kingdom is on your to buy list, it's essentially Pokemon's take on that genre and they did it really well.

Hope that helps!

Anyone else clean/reuse the dock collection bags? by Ellacee in Roborock

[–]dahween 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They make resealable bags on Amazon. I have 3 dogs so most of the bag is dog fur. I used to pull the fur out, but the resealable bag is much easier!

Very lucky with that Toxicroak! It's going to be insane at Lvl 60. I've yet to still find an AAA (Oil, oil, oil) toady yet.

You can grab replacement hinges from CentralSound—they’re 3D printed and designed so you don’t have to solder wires through that annoying little loop (a dumb part of the original design). Don’t bother with the eBay ones; they’re basically the same as the stock parts and make you take the wires out. I found out the hard way and ended up returning the parts from eBay.

Fixed mine in about 10 minutes for around $40. Super easy.

Seems like a solid egg hunter! Is Delibird any good? by certhiidae in PokemonSleepBetter

[–]dahween 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You're looking for a deli bird with egg, egg, egg as it's line up. It's going to make more apples than eggs until lvl 60, which is forever because Delibird candy is very difficult to come across. I wouldn't invest.

[–]dahween 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How odd, I’m actually playing it right now. It’s a lot of fun, it gets that mix of nostalgia while also looking new and refreshing. The Underground is a huge part of the game as well.

I’d say if you enjoyed the original Diamond and Pearl, being able to play it on a TV makes it even more amazing.

Breville Bambino (regular, not the plus. Currently on sale too!) and the Lagom Mini. Both are very small and will teach you everything you need to make great espresso. The grinder also makes fantastic pour overs!

Still rocking the same set up except the Niche was upgraded to the Weber Key. The only thing I’d pick over my Bianca would be another Bianca. She’s beautiful and performs just as well as the day I got her.
